How to fix a rip in a jacket in a couple of minutes without a needle and thread

Sewing up a torn jacket with a needle and thread is not the best solution, since the seam remaining after this is obvious. You can often close the gap with a decorative patch, but it can look awkward if the hole is located in the wrong place. The simplest and most invisible way to repair a jacket is to glue the damage with a special repair tape.

What you will need:

  • glue web;

  • iron.

Jacket repair process

You need to buy gossamer adhesive tape at a specialized sewing supply store. It is used for gluing fabric. To use it you need to prepare a patch. Any fabric of the same density as that on the jacket will do. The patch should be larger than the gap.
A piece of cobweb is placed on the patch.

The top is covered with a strip of paper from the tape set and ironed with a hot iron.

Then the parchment is removed and a pause is made to allow the melted glue to harden.

Now you need to insert the patch with glue into the gap, fill its edges and iron it with a hot iron.

The cobweb will instantly seal the hole securely. As a result, the damage seam will be barely noticeable.

    I would not wear the item after such repairs. Only if it’s the end of the season, and the item needs to be “delivered” before buying a new one. But wearing a torn (repaired) item for a whole season or several is untidy and unpleasant
