The plots of many summer residents do not allow planting a lot of potatoes in beds in the traditional way. To harvest large harvests while taking up minimal space, try this growing method. It is painstaking, but the yield from the bush is no less than a bucket of potatoes.

What you will need:

  • Potato tuber of a productive variety sprouted in the dark;
  • board 25x150 mm;
  • nails;
  • compost - 1 bucket;
  • priming.

Potato planting process

To plant potatoes, you need to make a personal bed for each bush. It is required to put together 2 boxes without a bottom from a 150 mm board. Their dimensions are 60x60 cm.

In a sunny place they are installed on top of each other; there is no need to knock them together. A mixture of soil and a bucket of compost is poured into the garden bed.

A medium-sized potato tuber sprouted in the dark is planted in the garden bed.

After germination, it is mulched with freshly cut grass until the end of July. As the mulch shrinks, it is simply added. There is no need to cover the leaves of the bush with your head; light should fall on them.Large potato tops are tied up and watered as needed.

In the summer, as usual, you need to fight the Colorado potato beetle by collecting it or using poison. When late blight occurs, potatoes should be mulched with hot grass. This is the heated grass from the inner layer of the compost heap. It is folded under the bush so as not to touch the stems. Watering is done from above to wash away substances from it into the soil at the root. Hot grass is laid out every 2 weeks.

Before harvesting, watering the potatoes stops a couple of weeks. Due to the fact that the bed consists of boxes in 2 tiers, it is quite easy to find potatoes in the ground.

As a result of this cultivation, 12 kg of potatoes were obtained from one tuber.

This yield can be achieved by systematic care, planting in a sunny place and using a tuber sprouted in the dark.
