A mug with a drawing of a favorite character often becomes something special and precious for a child. And it’s such a shame when her handle breaks off. You have to throw away the dishes and buy new ones. But why do this if it can serve for many years to come. I'll tell you how we make pencil holders from such mugs. The work is very easy and suitable for children aged 3 years and older. We did this one with my son, who is 3.5 years old.

So, we have a child’s favorite mug, with a drawing from Minecraft.

Unfortunately, her pen came off.

It’s impossible to drink from it, and it’s a shame to throw it away. And so we decided to turn it into a functional thing.

We needed:

  • Unnecessary jeans;
  • cord or twine;
  • various buttons;
  • metal pendants;
  • Moment glue and scissors.

Depending on your imagination and the availability of materials, the set may be slightly different.

How to make a pencil holder from a mug with a broken handle

Cut off a piece of jeans, 5-6 cm above the mug. The width should be such as to hide the part with the broken handle.

Trim the edges.Since this was done by a child, they are terribly uneven, but it won't matter.

Apply glue to the fabric.

We glue the material to the place where the handle used to be.

We wrap the rest inside.

Glue cord or twine along the edges.

They can also be used to lay out different patterns.

We glue buttons and metal pendants in a chaotic manner.

We wait until everything dries and we get such a beautiful thing for the children's room.

This is how your favorite broken mug turns into a very functional thing. Now you can place pens, pencils and markers in it. And if the inside is completely covered with soft fabric, then the mug can be an excellent place to store glasses - they will not be scratched and will never be lost. Use your imagination and try new ideas with your children!
