Step 1: Clean the base mug

Take a ceramic mug and wipe it thoroughly with a cotton pad soaked in alcohol. On a clean, grease-free surface, the plastic will not become dirty.

Step 2. Form Moomintroll's body

Cut a small piece of white polymer clay with a stationery knife. Knead thoroughly in your hands. Form an oblong “sausage” and a small ball.

Take an oblong piece of plastic and press a small notch in its upper part. This can be done with rolling movements of the index finger.

Now bend a piece of white plastic. The fold point will be the thinnest section.

We got the head and body of Moomintroll.
The resulting figure is too voluminous to fit on a mug. Therefore, it is necessary to reduce its thickness. To do this, cut the Moomintroll figurine approximately in half with a stationery knife.

Try our character's body on a mug.
Advice! Attach all elements of the product to the mug at once. This will help ensure that the back of the figurine fits perfectly onto the mug.

Step 3. Sculpt the paws, tail and ears

Tear off a small piece from the prepared ball of white plastic. Form an oval.

Using a stack or knife, divide the oval in half and form Moomintroll's hind legs. This can be done with simple rolling movements or modeling tools.

Use the same method to sculpt the second pair of paws.
Try on all the legs to the Moomintroll body on the mug.
Tear off a few more very small pieces of white clay and form two triangular ears and a long tail.

The tip of the tail can be made in relief using a toothpick or a needle.
Secure all the parts onto the mug and smooth out any rough edges with your fingers or tools.

Step 4. Add a “knitted” scarf

Cut a small piece of brown polymer clay. Knead it thoroughly.

Cut into 4 equal parts. Roll them over the surface with your index finger into the thinnest “strings” possible.

Twist one pair of clay “threads” with a strand facing away from you, and the other pair with a strand towards you. This method of twisting will give the effect of a knitted scarf.

Connect the two resulting bundles.

Divide into two unequal parts and place the scarf on the Moomintroll figurine.

Step 5: Complete the look

Using the remaining brown clay, form tiny eyebrows and transfer them to the figurine. And from the remains of the white one - flat ovals for the eyes. To further decorate the mug, you can sculpt several clouds.

Advice! Try on the paws, scarf and tail in different positions. Perhaps you will find a more interesting pose for your figure.
At this stage, smooth out all the seams between the elements and fix what you don't like. Add texture to the paws, ears, and ends of the scarf using a toothpick.

Step 6. Bake the figurine

Send Moomintroll directly on the mug to bake in the oven. The optimal time and temperature for baking are indicated on the packaging of your plastic.
After the mug has cooled, all that remains is to paint Moomintroll’s pupils with black acrylic paint.

Advice! Use a toothpick to apply the paint if you don't have a thin enough brush.
For secure fixation, carefully separate the figurine from the mug and glue it to the same place.
The polymer clay mug with Moomintroll is ready!
