An old electric hair clipper with worn-out knives can get a second life, just make a jigsaw machine on its base. It cuts thin sheet materials with blades from a hand jigsaw, so it allows you to make very thin, precise cuts. This machine will be useful for modelers.
Materials:
- Hair clipper;
- corner 45x45 mm;
- M5 screw with countersunk head and nut;
- laminated chipboard;
- profile pipes 15x15 mm and 20x20 mm;
- tension spring.
Jigsaw manufacturing process
It is necessary to prepare a piece of corner 45x45 mm with a length of 40 mm. 4 holes are drilled on one side of it.
The lower knife of the machine is welded to the second at a right angle.
One hole in the movable knife is countersunk to accommodate a countersunk screw.
It is necessary to make a cut on the welded knife. This is necessary so that the countersunk screw does not rest against it.
Next, the machine is put back together.
The machine table is cut out from laminated chipboard. A hole is drilled in the center for the jigsaw blade.
On the reverse side, you need to screw the machine using an angle so that the file inserted through the table can be clamped with a screw on the movable knife.
Now you need to assemble the nail file tension mechanism. To do this, you need to make 2 pieces 200 and 90 mm long from a 20x20 mm profile pipe, as well as one 200 mm piece from a 15x15 tube.
Pipe blanks 20x20 mm are welded at right angles. On the edge of the short one you need to cut out eyes for a 15x15 mm pipe and drill them. The components are connected by an axis. The result should be an H-shaped part with a movable side that acts as a lever.
The tension mechanism is screwed to the table.
A connecting segment from the saw chain is riveted to the edge of the lever.
The file is clamped with one end onto the machine blade, and the other onto a segment attached to the lever.
The machine itself needs to be equipped with legs, but it is best to simply clamp it in a vice. To retract the lever, a spring is pulled onto its edge.
