Free electricity is the dream of many, but to get it, you need to spend a lot on equipment. If you are not ready for such an investment, you can make a wind generator with your own hands literally from trash. Of course, it will not provide all needs with electricity, but it will completely allow powering low-power consumers.

Materials:

  • Sheet steel 2 mm;
  • profile pipes;
  • shaft 10-15 mm;
  • bearings with the diameter of the inner race for the shaft – 2 pcs.;
  • grinder gearbox;
  • roller chain;
  • large and small drive sprockets;
  • plastic sewer pipe;
  • DC motor 12V, optimally stepper with low resistance on the windings - http://alii.pub/5qa7qp

Wind generator manufacturing process

Assembly should begin by making the screw. To do this, a disk is cut out of sheet steel. 3 profile pipes are welded onto it for attaching the blades. An axle is welded into the center. It must be set strictly perpendicular.

A section of profile pipe is used as the body of the wind generator. In the center, a gearbox from an angle grinder with an anchor is screwed to it.

The rotor shaft must be connected to the propeller shaft.To do this, 2 bearings are installed on the latter, inserted into a section of pipe. The shafts are coaxially welded together. The tube itself with bearings is welded to the body.

A large sprocket is clamped onto the grinder gear spindle.

Next, the generator itself is attached to the body made of a profile pipe. It can be used as a DC motor, preferably a stepper motor with low winding resistance, since it produces good current at low speeds. A smaller sprocket is installed on the generator shaft. Then a roller chain is stretched between the stars.

Blades cut from a plastic pipe are screwed onto the base of the propeller. A tail, also cut out of plastic, is installed on the edge of the body. The wind generator is then secured to a high pole.

In strong winds, the propeller spins the generator through the gearbox to high speeds. As a result, constant voltage is removed from its contacts. With the help of the controller, it can be used to charge the car battery. This is enough to power 12 V electrical appliances. You can also use an inverter and convert DC voltage to 220 V AC.

    The use of a gearbox from a grinder can only be justified by the convenience of fastening and for turning the shaft line. The author first lowers the speed on this gearbox, then increases it again on the chain drive, twice losing the useful torque

      Indeed, what is the point of complicating the design when you can connect the generator to the propeller directly.

    Was it worth the trouble, the gearbox of the grinder reduces the speed by 6 times, and the chain drive increases it somewhere also, as a result the speed is the same as from the propeller to the straight line, but the losses in two gears are about 30%
