Rarely does the welding process take place under ideal conditions - often something interferes: objects or parts located nearby, tight spaces, insufficient lighting, difficulties in securing the parts being welded, etc. In this case, some kind of “third hand” helps, with the help of which the some difficulties that prevent high-quality welding. Any adult can make such a “hand”.

- two threaded rods;

The process of making a “third hand” from scrap materials
We cut the required length of the profile square pipe in the longitudinal direction so that we get two grooves with low sides. We remove burrs and round off sharp corners.
In the backs of the grooves we mark the centers of the three holes and drill them first with a twist drill and finally with a step drill. We make large holes along the edges, smaller ones in the center.

We place one groove on the “legs” and place balls in the large holes, which are only fixed in them with their lower part. We cover the balls with the second groove with their “legs” up and tighten them through the holes in the center (but do not tighten them!) with a bolt, washer and nut.
We clamp the assembly of grooves and balls in a vice and weld rods with threads at the ends to the balls.
In a short fragment of a square pipe, we mark and drill holes in the center of three sides, and cut out the fourth side at the level of the inner walls of adjacent sides. We weld nuts to all holes on the outside.
We screw the bolt shaft without a head into one of the side nuts, replaced by a transversely welded piece of tube. We insert a bolt into it, onto the free end of which we screw a nut.
We screw a regular and then an elongated nut onto one of the rods welded to the balls and tighten them with wrenches so that the thread of the rod comes out of the nut. We screw its end into the assembly nut, which is located opposite the bolt rod.
We cut out one side of a piece of square pipe and drill two holes on one of the adjacent sides, onto which we weld nuts. We weld the bolt head to the center of the side opposite the removed one.

We also screw an elongated nut onto another rod, welded to the ball, and screw a bolt from a square pipe into it. We screw two bolts into the nuts of this unit.
