A folding beach chair is usually either bulky when folded or very flimsy and uncomfortable. If you want it not to take up a lot of space during transportation and at the same time not to tend to break during use, it is better to make it yourself. This will require scraps of plywood that would normally go in the trash or for firewood.

Materials:

  • Plywood;
  • wood glue;
  • furniture hinges – 7 pcs.;
  • gas lifts - 2 pcs.;
  • self-tapping screws;
  • wood oil

Manufacturing process of a folding chair

To make a chair, you need to cut the existing plywood into strips 20 mm wide and glue them together into a large furniture panel. The slats should be positioned sideways to make it rigid.

The glued dry board needs to be sanded. Then, on whatman paper or the back of the wallpaper, a chair template is drawn, as in the example, maintaining the same dimensions.

The template is circled on the shield twice, the second with a mirror image. The shield is then cut out. The resulting five workpieces need to have their edges processed. A cut is made in the back part for the arm to carry the chair.

Now all that remains is to connect the parts using furniture hinges.

To fix the backrest, 2 gas lifts are used.

Before use, it is better to soak the chair in oil so that it does not deteriorate from moisture. You can screw the pads onto the legs so that the emphasis rests on them during installation.

This chair easily fits into the bottom of the trunk.

You can put as many things as you like on top of it without fear of it breaking. This is a very successful design that is worth repeating.
