When sewing or repairing clothes and backpacks, you have to sew in a new zipper. It is rarely possible to immediately select the right length, so a snake is often purchased straight away, without upper and lower limiters. In this case, the slider is not put on it, and you need to wind it yourself. This is difficult because it does not want to fit, or the zipper links on it are displaced relative to each other. In fact, everything can be done without any pain at all, simply by using a dinner fork.

What you will need:

  • Scissors;
  • table fork.

The process of putting on a zipper slider

You need to take a metal fork with three prongs or a regular plastic one. The upper loop of the runner is wound between its teeth. The suspension itself should hang down.

At the same time, the slider turns with an expander towards the fork handle, aimed at you.

Then take the zipper, if its ribbon is frayed at the edge, then it can be trimmed with scissors a couple of centimeters. Next, its links are disconnected and moved apart. The zipper halves are brought together in front of the slider, forming the letter “V”.In this position, she will enter very easily, and the first time.

If this is a zipper for a backpack, and you need to install 2 sliders, then the second one is installed in the same way, but on the other side. Before this, you need to separate the links to the previously installed lock.
