For dismountable pipe connections it is very convenient to use “American” ones. Unfortunately, they are expensive, so they are used to a minimum. Few people know, but you can get them almost for nothing by making them yourself from cheap nuts and fittings.

Materials:

  • Union nut;
  • futorka;
  • silicone or rubber gasket;
  • polypropylene pipe.

American manufacturing process

To make an “American” one, you need to select a union nut and a sleeve that can be screwed into it. The main condition is that they can be put on the PP pipe.

Next you need to assemble a device that will allow you to install them on the tubes. You will need a barrel or other fitting with an external thread matching that used on the nut, and a washer. Another pin protruding from the plane is also selected, the outer diameter of which corresponds to the internal PP of the pipe.

A fitting with external thread and a washer are put on the pin.Then you need to take a piece of PP pipe with a straight end and heat its edge until melting begins. It then rests against the washer on the device. Immediately put a union nut on the tube and tighten it. The tube is now pressed into the washer to form a bead. The softened plastic will take the desired shape.

Now the tube is removed, and its formed end is trimmed to remove sagging and unevenness. That’s it, the first part of “American” is ready.

To make the second part, you need to heat the futorka over a burner or gas stove. Then a second tube is inserted into it from the back side and pressed until it comes out in front.

The protruding cooled part of the tube in front of the liner is heated again, and it is pressed into the washer on the assembled device to form a collar. If as a result there are any irregularities left on it, they are cut off or sanded.

Now the assembled halves can be twisted through the gasket. The nut will press against the fitting, ensuring a complete seal.

That’s it, the “American” can be soldered to the pipeline. It is suitable for installing a heated towel rail, radiators, etc.
