Every day, when working around the house or in the workshop, there are hitches due to the lack of various little things that you need to run to the store for. Most of them do not have to be purchased, but can be made with your own hands in 5 minutes. Let's look at how to make a cable thimble, a tow strap bracket, and a quick-release hose clamp.
1. DIY rope thimble
To make a thimble, you will need a thin tube, slightly larger in diameter than the cable. It must be bent with an arc of the required radius.
The arc is cut off from the main tube and clamped in a vice. Now cut out the middle along the outer curve.
The thimble blank is inserted into the cable loop from the inside, then crushed around it with a hammer.
It turns out neat and reliable.
2. Wire bracket for towing strap
From thick steel wire you need to bend a snake with three waves the width of the tape. Then the workpiece is bent at a right angle 6-8 cm from the end of the last wave, perpendicular to the snake. After this, the tail is bent in parallel. That is, it needs to be located slightly above the plane of the snakes.Leave a length from the tail equal to half the width of the ribbon.
Now we bring the tape into the outer waves of the staple and make one turn. At one end the sling will be fixed with the tail of the bracket, and at the other it must be inserted under the first turn of the snake. You can make more revolutions. Using this bracket, it is convenient to select the excess length of the tape. At the same time, the winding is held very tightly, so that everything can be pulled without problems.
3. Quick-release clamp for a wire hose
The steel wire is bent in half. The edge of the loop must be clamped in a vice, and the double end of the wire must be bent at a right angle.
The workpiece is wound one turn around a tube equal to the diameter of the fitting onto which the hose with the clamp will be pulled. After creating the rounding, the clamp is again clamped in a vice, and its tails are bent at a right angle in front of the previously made loop.
The clamp is placed on the tube and hammered at the bends to make them sharper. The double edge of the wire is cut to the height of the loop.
The ends of the wire need to be put into a loop, and then a rod should be placed between it and them. The latter is needed to bend the tails, forming a clothespin. Now, by squeezing the edges of the clamp with pliers, you can expand it and place it on the hose.
