The rough under the laminate is rarely perfectly smooth. Over the years, the substrate ceases to compensate for these depressions, and the covered ones begin to sag and creak. If this happens to you, then the unevenness under the laminate can be removed in a simple way.
What you will need:
- Polyurethane foam in a container with a tube;
- insulating tape;
- needle for inflating balls;
- thin drill
Floor leveling process
The essence of the method is to blow polyurethane foam into places where the floor is dented. It will expand and become dense, thereby compensating for base errors. Foam with a slight expansion is suitable for this. At the end of its tube you need to install a needle to inflate the balls. Before this, it will need to be shortened to remove the part with the side hole.
The connection between the needle and the tube is strengthened with electrical tape.
We find a place on the floor where the floor covering is dented.
Then we drill the laminate on it, preferably on the lock, so that the hole is less conspicuous.
Apply masking tape or electrical tape around the hole.This is necessary so that if the polyurethane foam comes out, it does not stain the floor. Then insert a needle into the hole, and a little foam is fed inside.
The foam under the laminate will occupy the entire cavity, and will become a new base on which the flooring can rest. It will stop hanging and knocking. The main thing when repairing is not to use foam with a high expansion coefficient, as you can get humps instead of a flat base.
