Even seemingly simple tasks may not be as easy as they seem. There are many subtleties in every case, only by observing which you can get the perfect result. Let's look at some cool useful tips from builders and carpenters that you may need in everyday life.

1. Corrugated nail holder

When nailing nails in a corner close to the wall, it is difficult to hold them with your fingers. In this case, you can pierce the edge of a strip of corrugated cardboard with a nail and use it as a holder. Once the nail is driven in, the cardboard comes off easily.

2. How to bleed air from the radiator through the Mayevsky tap without splashing

To avoid splashing water when servicing air-filled heating radiators, you can make a collection container for water from a bottle. To do this, a large hole is made in its neck for the battery plug. Opposite, a smaller hole is cut.

We put the bottle on the cap, and through the small hole we get to the Mayevsky tap with a screwdriver. As a result, the splashes and stream of coolant will remain in the bottle, and you will not stain anything.

3.Wedge jack

For easy lifting of heavy furniture you can make a simple wedge jack. To do this, you need to drill along the block and cut it diagonally.

The halves of the block are folded together and tightened with a bolt and nut. If you lay it under the furniture and start tightening the bolt, the wedges will come together and lift it up. This will be enough to pull out the carpet, or place a stand under the foot.

4. Construction horizontal level with a plumb line

If you don't have a bubble level, then you can assemble an A-shaped structure with two jumpers from slats. A cord is fastened in its corner, and the center is marked on the lower jumper. A sinker made from a drilled bolt is tied at the bottom of the lace.

Now if you position the level so that the plumb line passes along the mark, then the bottom bar will serve as a horizontal level. In order for the device to be accurate, it is important to maintain symmetry when assembling it.

5. Jig for sharpening drills using emery

When sharpening drills on emery, it is difficult to maintain one angle, so it is best to use a jig. To make it, you need to drill a block from the end in order to place the drill shank into the resulting blind hole. The block is then cut at an angle.

The resulting triangular jig allows you to guide the drill correctly. Due to it, sharpening will take place much faster and with better quality.

6. How to hide the head of a screw in wood

If you don't like the way the head of the screw looks in the wood, then make a deep countersink when screwing it in to recess it. The remaining hole must be filled with sawdust and filled with superglue. The end result is a hard, wood-colored composite. By sanding it, you can practically hide the fact that a connection was made in this place.

7.Sharpening a pencil with an electric planer

If you don’t have a sharpener at hand, you can sharpen pencils using the knives of an electric plane. We simply turn it over with the sole up or on its side and plan it.

8. How to make a groove in a round profile or handle

If you need to mill a groove in a round profile, then just clamp the workpiece between two planks and place a guide on top. This will allow you to make an even groove of the required length and depth using a regular hand router.

9. Hidden permanent connection with a dowel

Dowels coated with glue provide a fairly strong connection, but it begins to hold only when the composition dries. It’s not difficult to make sure that the dowel sits tightly right away. To do this, its edges need to be filed along. Wooden wedges are inserted into the cuts. When pressed into the hole, the wedge will open the dowel, and it will no longer be able to come back out. We do this on both sides, and the connected parts will hold tightly.

10. How to make a fillet using a circular saw

Fillet on wooden workpieces is usually made with a fillet cutter. But you can get by with a circular saw. We fix the guide at an angle, and along it we feed the part onto the saw blade from the side. He will select wood as well as a router.

11. Proper crown storage

The Krona battery should not be stored with metal objects, as they can short-circuit its contacts. If you still have to put the crowns in a box with metal, cover it with electrical tape.

12. Box connection

Drawers are best assembled using a tongue-and-groove connection. It can be done very quickly on a milling table. To do this, you need to attach a support to it from a strip equal in cross-section to the size of the groove made by the cutter. Thanks to it, you can create the perfect pitch when cutting tenons by inserting the bar into the grooves being made.

The proposed method allows you to make a connection at a right angle. If it should be rounded, then the edges of the joined parts must be cut at 45 degrees. After this, they are secured with an angle clamp. Next, you need to make a couple of circular cuts across the corner and glue wooden inserts into them. After the glue has dried, they are cut off and the corner can be rounded by grinding.

13. Quick gluing of wooden blanks along the edge

If you need to glue wooden blanks along the edge, it is better to press them tightly and then insert a knife between them, creating a small gap. If you pour glue into it, it will flow evenly along the edges, and you won’t have to rub it. After this, the parts are compressed until the glue dries.
