Adjustable wedge for vice
If you don't have a vice, you can make an adjustable wedge. To do this you will need:
- block 50x50 mm – 80 mm;
- bolt M8x100;
- M8 nut;
- washer.
At the end of the block, the middle is marked using diagonals.
A through hole is drilled at the mark.
Next, the block is sawn diagonally into 2 wedges.
The block sawn into wedges is assembled back together, after which it is tightened with a bolt through the hole.
Now, placing the workpiece on the workbench between two stops, using the resulting tool, you can clamp it. The bolt is screwed in, thereby tightening the wedges and tightening the part.
Magnetic miter box corner
To trim workpieces at 90 degrees, you can make a magnetic miter box. For this you will need:
- rail 20x50 mm;
- 3 neodymium washer magnets;
- PVA or wood glue;
- 2 self-tapping screws 30 mm.
The lath is sawn into 2 pieces of 15-20 cm each.
Holes are made in one of them into which 3 magnets are pressed, as in the photo.
The blanks are glued together into a corner at 90 degrees. For reliability, they can be additionally strengthened with a pair of self-tapping screws.
Now, after installing the angle on the board or rail, the hacksaw blade will be attracted to the magnets. When cutting, it will not dangle or warp as it goes deeper, which will increase accuracy compared to sawing along a line.
Organization of storage of screws and other fasteners
This homemade product will allow you to conveniently store screws. To implement it you need to prepare:
- wire;
- plastic bottles.
A window slightly larger than a matchbox is cut a little below the neck of the bottle.
A hole is made in the bottle cap and an ear bent from thick wire is inserted into it. The antennae of the eyelet on the back of the cork are bent.
By pouring self-tapping screws through the cutout into the bottle, they can be hung on hooks under a shelf, countertop, or simply on the wall.
Eliminating cracks in laminate flooring without dismantling it
Typically, a glass jack is used to remove cracks in the locks of an already assembled laminate. But this can be done without purchasing this unnecessary household tool. It is enough to have:
- smooth wooden block;
- Double-sided tape.
The block is glued to the problematic panel with double-sided tape. It is important that the beam lies with its wide side for a larger contact area, and is directed with its end towards the gap.
By hitting the end of the block with a hammer, you can knock out the laminate, removing the gap. Next, the block and tape are torn off, and the remaining glue is washed off without a trace with vegetable oil.
