To reduce water consumption when watering beds, it is best to switch to drip irrigation. This method allows you to continuously feed plants with moisture in small portions. Due to this, the roots have time to consume water, excluding its mass evaporation. You can make such a system almost free of charge from PET bottles.

Materials:

  • PET bottles;
  • rags;
  • foil.

Manufacturing process of a drip irrigation system

To assemble a system for one plant, you will need 2 bottles of different diameters. From the large one you will only need the lower half. It is cut off with a knife, the rest can be thrown away.

The cut bottom fits a smaller plastic bottle. It is necessary to make a hole in it 10-15 mm below the side of the stand.

A strip of fabric is cut from a rag that absorbs water well.

Part of the flap must be wrapped in foil.

The tighter you compress it, the slower the system can deliver drops. The edge of the fabric with foil is cut off so that the passage of the tube is open.

The flap in foil is placed in a stand from the bottom of the bottle.

The fabric then lies inside.A bottle of water is placed on top, in which a hole was previously made. Now if you open the lid, water will flow into the stand. Once the hole is flooded, the lid is clamped to stop the flow.

Next, the system is installed under the plant so that the edge of the tube is located above the root. After 10-15 minutes, the fabric will be completely saturated and dripping will begin. All you have to do is fill the bottles once a day, and the system will work continuously. Since the lid remains closed, there will be no overflow over the sides.
