Masking tape can be used not only for painting work, but also in many other cases. This is very useful material that can help in the most unexpected situations. Let's look at 9 unusual ways to use it.

1. Protection of plywood from chips when cutting

When cutting plywood, chips often occur on it. If you stick masking tape on the cutting line and cut along it, then there will be no such defects.

Please note that chips only occur on one side, so the tape should only be applied to that side.

2. Dust collector when drilling walls

You can also use masking tape to make a canopy to collect dust when drilling into walls. It is enough to take several strips of adhesive tape and glue them together in parallel, creating a wide flap. Then we bend it slightly in the center and glue it to the wall, sticky side up.

Due to this, some of the dust will literally stick to the tape, so it will no longer fall apart.

3. How to remove traces of masking tape (if they remain)

Usually masking tape does not leave marks, but if it is not removed for weeks, then some of the glue will transfer to the finished surface.Erasing them is not difficult at all if you use a cloth soaked in WD-40.

4. Applying sealant using masking tape

Masking tape can also be used to create protected boundaries when applying sealants to corners, seams and other surfaces. We simply glue two tapes in parallel, leaving only the surface on which the silicone should be exposed.

Next, apply the sealant, remove the excess, and tear off the tape. As a result, we get a neat line.

5. Stickers with measurements

If you take a lot of measurements with a tape measure, you can stick several pieces of tape on its body. You can write down measurements on them, and then stick these stickers on parts and workpieces. This way you won't get confused with the data.

6. Drilling depth control

A piece of masking tape can be glued to the drill bit at a distance from the tip that corresponds to the required drilling depth. Thus, you will need to drill until the flag touches the surface.

7. Record paint color markings

You can also use masking tape as a sticky note to record paint color codes. We write its number on tape and stick it on the back of the switch panel. In the future, if the need arises, you can remove it and see what number of paint colors you need to use so that the new layer matches the shade of the old one.

8. Production of smooth stickers from adhesive tape

A roll of masking tape can be cut into small pieces and then used as stickers.

Their cost is much lower than specialized stickers.

9. Remove cracks in laminate flooring using masking tape

If a gap appears on the laminate, masking tape will help remove it. We use it to seal the lamella that needs to be moved, as well as the wooden block.

Then you need to glue the block to the laminate, joining their sides in tape. After this, you can tap the block to move the lamella. Then we pry it up with a chisel and tear it up. As a result, the tape will come off without leaving any marks on the floor.
