A gray wall smoothly plastered with cement mortar evokes boredom, spoils the mood and evokes a strong desire to somehow modify it. Often for this purpose they use imitation brickwork, made in one way or another. For example, this can be done using a simple device based on a classic paint roller and a plastic pipe, which any adult can do.

Will need

Materials:

  • plastic pipe with an internal diameter of 7 cm;
  • plastic tee with a diameter of 5 cm with o-rings;
  • wooden sticks;
  • paint roller handle;
  • paint roller 25 cm long;
  • polyethylene film.

Tools: a hacksaw for cutting plastic, an abrasive sponge for cleaning pipes, a glue gun, wire cutters, etc.

The process of making a roller to imitate brickwork on fresh plaster

We take out the sealing rings from the plastic tee.

Using a hacksaw, we cut a piece 25 cm long from a plastic pipe. Using an abrasive sponge, we clean the cutting areas to remove burrs and sharp edges.

We insert a paint roller into the pipe blank, consisting of a hollow cylinder (roller), on which a “fur coat” is put on. Fill the annular gap between the pipe and the roller on both sides with glue from a glue gun.

We remove the gloss from the outer surface of the pipe with an abrasive sponge and put o-rings on it, placing them along the edges and one exactly in the center.

We shorten six wooden sticks with wire cutters to the length corresponding to the distance between the rings.

We draw longitudinal lines on the surface of the pipe between the central and side sealing rings, rotating the pipe strictly 180 degrees. We apply glue along the drawn lines and press three wooden sticks shortened to size onto them, two next to each other at the bottom and one in the middle at the top.

We insert the handle pin into the central hole of the roller until it locks and our simple device is ready for work.

To do this, cover the newly plastered surface with plastic film and roll the modernized paint roller over the surface strictly in a horizontal or vertical direction.

We repeat the process over the entire surface, each time using the outermost mark as a guide for the next rolling of the roller. We remove the film and make sure that the smooth surface has taken on the appearance of real brickwork, which looks much more fun.
