Fences are made from chain-link mesh in a farmstead or at a summer cottage, the area is divided into zones, cages for animals are made, etc. It is sold in the store, but the purchase will cost a tidy sum. A simple machine made from scrap materials that any adult can assemble will help you save money.

Will need

Materials:

  • metal square plate;
  • metal strips of different thicknesses;
  • metal round pipe;
  • steel circle;
  • large and small asterisk;
  • extended nut;
  • screwdriver;
  • transmission chain, etc.

Tools: grinder, pendulum circular saw, magnetic clamps, welding, lathe, files, wrenches, drilling machine, etc.

The process of manufacturing a machine with a drive for weaving a chain-link mesh from scrap materials

We cut out a square steel plate, remove burrs, rust spots and round the edges.From a steel strip with a thickness commensurate with the width, we cut off a piece of the estimated length. Using a magnetic clamp, we install it vertically in one of the corners of the square plate and secure it with welding.

From a round pipe of a given diameter, cut a piece of the required length and trim the ends. We wrap paper tape around the pipe in a spiral, leaving a small gap between adjacent turns.

Using a marker, draw a spiral line along the gap on the surface of the pipe. We remove the paper tape and cut a through spiral in the pipe with an exit to the end.

We lay the pipe with the end without the spiral on a rectangular piece, and support the other end with a magnetic clamp. Moreover, the pipe must be parallel to the side of the base plate. In this position, we weld the pipe to the workpiece.

We grind the steel circle on a lathe to the required length to match the diameter of the pipe with a spiral slot and cut it off, leaving an uncut section, which we shorten and grind to the diameter of the central hole of the large sprocket, where we weld it.

From a steel strip of smaller thickness, we cut out a plate commensurate with the diameter and length of the pipe with a spiral slot, and weld it vertically to the axis of the large sprocket. We insert the plate and the axis of the large sprocket into the pipe from the side without the spiral slot.

We cut off a narrow ring from the same pipe, grind and round the ends. We shorten the elongated nut and weld part of it to the outside of the ring in the tangential direction.We cut the nut crosswise along with the ring and the weld, which we compare with the inner surface of the split ring.

We weld the ring with the nut, cut upward, longitudinally, to a rectangular piece of large thickness. We insert the power belt of the screwdriver body into the split ring and secure it with a bolt and nut.

We make another axle with a head and stop from the same circle, and weld it to the central hole of the small sprocket. Insert the axle shaft into the screwdriver chuck and tighten securely.

We put the transmission chain on the large sprocket, tighten it with the small sprocket and, ensuring flatness, weld the clamp stop with a screwdriver to the square base plate.

We cut a piece from a strip of medium thickness, drill a hole at one edge and weld it to the plate opposite the beginning of the spiral cut on the pipe. We pass the end of the wire through the hole, which we bend with a hook to hook the edge of the plate in the pipe.

We turn on the screwdriver and the wire, carried by the rotating plate along the spiral of the pipe, acquires bends characteristic of the elements of a chain-link mesh, which is obtained by screwing curved wires into each other.
