To cook a small package of semi-finished product or several skewers of shish kebab on a large grill, you need to spend a lot of firewood. This is irrational economically and organizationally.

For such cases, you can make a compact grill from a used old sink and an unusable metal chair. Therefore, you should not throw these things unsuitable for their intended purpose into a landfill because they are no longer needed.

Making a barbecue from a shell

To implement such an unexpected transformation, apart from an old sink and the frame of a metal chair, no additional materials, monetary costs, or special knowledge and skills are needed. Any adult can handle this kind of work.

It is known that for complete combustion of solid fuel it is necessary to organize the flow of atmospheric air into the combustion zone, or rather the oxygen contained in it. Without this, the firewood will smolder instead of burning and emit a large amount of smoke.

The sink is closed on all sides and it will not be possible to organize full combustion of solid fuel in it.Several small holes for draining water, provided by the design of the sink, are clearly not enough to maintain combustion in this closed volume.

To achieve the intended result, turn the sink upside down and drill holes using a drill along the entire perimeter of the product where the vertical walls of the sink meet the bottom.

To prevent the drill from slipping, because the sink in this place has a slope and the enamel coating is quite slippery, you must first use a core and a hammer to make indentations-marks in the places where the holes are drilled. After which, drilling will proceed without problems.

Holes drilled around the entire perimeter of the old sink will act as an ash pit and support the combustion of solid fuel until it turns into coals, on which you can successfully cook kebabs, fry steaks or other meat and vegetable semi-finished products.

A sink with holes drilled in a circle is ready for starting a fire in it. We use an old metal chair as legs for a homemade fireplace, having first removed its back.

We place a sink with holes on the legs of a metal chair. We put dry firewood in the sink, pour it over with flammable liquid and set it on fire.

While the firewood is burning, we remove semi-finished meat or vegetable products from the packaging and place them on the grill. We remove the still burning wood to the side, place a couple of skewers on the sink over the coals and place a grate with semi-finished meat or vegetable products on them. In a short time, an appetizing and attractive dish will be ready to eat.
