When you need to divide a room into 2 parts according to functionality and enrich the aesthetic appeal of the premises, you can build a frameless wall with imitation wood, brick, stone, etc. This approach will save money, enrich the interior and provide the necessary functionality.

Will need

Materials:

  • penoplex (extruded polystyrene foam);
  • polyurethane foam;
  • self-tapping screws;
  • plaster-adhesive mixture;
  • glass mesh;
  • deep penetration primer;
  • acrylic latex paint white;
  • color scheme;
  • acrylic varnish, etc.

Tools: laser level, drill, knife, metal brush, container and stirrer, spatula and smoother, roller or brush, jointing, template for simulating brickwork, construction level, kitchen sponge, etc.

The process of erecting a frameless wall based on penoplex under brickwork

Using a laser level and a marker, we mark vertical lines on the walls and horizontal lines on the ceiling and floor. These are the future boundaries of the frameless wall being built.

To assemble a vertical wall from foam sheets, we use two boards, between which we clamp the plates with clamps. We fill the joint lines of the penoplex sheets with each other, with the walls, ceiling and floor with construction foam.

To give the wall greater rigidity, we use ligation of slabs like a brick one. Also, for the same purpose, we fasten the sheets in the corners by screwing screws diagonally.

We cut off the excess frozen and hardened foam with a knife. We apply artificial roughness to the surface of the slabs with a metal brush for better adhesion to the plaster-adhesive mixture to create a base reinforced layer in which adhesion to the penoplex occurs due to the polymers present in the plaster-adhesive mixture. Apply the mixture using a spatula and a trowel.

Until the mixture has completely hardened, cover it with a glass mesh and cover it with the same plaster-adhesive mixture. Thanks to the mesh, after the mixture dries, the wall acquires good rigidity, which we cover with a deep penetration primer.

After allowing the primer to dry for some time, we cover the wall with the same plaster-adhesive solution with the addition of a primer for better adhesion.

After the wall has set, we apply horizontal lines using a laser beam using a template in the form of a board with a handle 9 cm wide and jointing, simulating masonry joints between the rows. We apply vertical imitation of seams every 25 cm in each even or odd row. In the remaining rows, we make the first seam after 12 cm, and then after 25 cm. This way we create the illusion of a brick dressing.

Remove unevenness on the wall due to the application of imitation seams with a spatula or kitchen sponge soaked in water. The second method is preferable, because...Along with removing irregularities, we smooth out sharp edges, which brings the imitation even closer to natural masonry.

After the primer has dried, we paint the wall in the color of the penoplex, achieving the desired color using a tint. Apply the paint with a short-haired roller and squeeze the paint very hard so as not to paint over the seams.

We bring the color of the wall with imitation brick closer to the natural masonry made from old bricks. To do this, add a primer and black tint to the paint, mix everything and adjust the color with a regular sponge.

After the corrective paint has dried, we apply a special acrylic varnish to the wall, which gives the effect of wet stone after drying. In addition to brickwork, our frameless wall can be imitated as wood, tile or natural stone.

    One question - Why? Do it, and be afraid to sneeze on this wall for the rest of your life?
    One square of “Glass-mesh” costs the same, or slightly more, than a square made of a metal profile.
