It is very interesting to watch videos of authors from Asia on the Internet. They are often characterized by naivety and exaggeration of the final result. Let's look at one of them. A video by a Vietnamese video blogger called “How to double the water pressure without using a water pump.”

How to increase water pressure without a pump

A simple structure is assembled from plastic pipes. It is almost symmetrical, i.e. has two identical arms. One water inlet and two outlet taps. The main difference between these almost identical branches is the installation on one of them of a rather voluminous tank, about one meter high. It appears to be made from a section of 110mm diameter sewer pipe.

It is sealed - closed on top with a glued lid. The entire structure was assembled without the use of a soldering iron for plastic pipes. The connections are simply coated with glue. After all, this was initially done as a demonstration object that had no practical value.

Everything is assembled, glued, screwed. The theory needs to be tested.

The author claims that in the elbow on which an additional structure made of a thick pipe is installed, there will be higher water pressure, which means the pressure from the tap will be greater. At the same time, he gives a rather unexpected rationale. I'll try to quote him: “When water does not enter the structure, there is air in it. When we open the water, it enters the pipe, causing the air in the pipe to compress. And if you open the tap, this compressed air will put pressure on the water and make the water pressure in this arm of the structure stronger than in the other.”

An unexpected explanation. To prove that he is right, the author of the video turns on the water and demonstrates the result. To be honest, the pressure in both taps, in my opinion, is the same. This is no wonder. After all, no one has canceled the laws of physics. Not in Vietnam or anywhere else. And now - the correct answer.

In general, the inventor’s thought worked in almost the right direction. Its layout is nothing more than a model of a water tower. Only the explanation of the principle of its operation is fundamentally incorrect. And the model size is too small to demonstrate the working principle. And it is as follows.

Yes, the tower creates additional pressure, but not by compressing air. Its work is based on the pressure that a column of water creates in it. The higher the tower, the higher the pressure.

Simple as that.
