To prevent this from happening, you need a shredder, which can be bought in a store for several thousand rubles. But it can be done with your own hands by anyone who can hold simple metal processing tools in their hands.

Manufacturing process of auger wood chipper for household use
From a pipe with an internal diameter of 100 mm and a wall thickness of 7 mm, we make a gutter with a semi-cylindrical bottom and an arc at one end.
After tempering, we cut washers with a landing diameter of 47 mm in the radial direction and spread the ends until the required screw pitch is obtained.
Then we weld these cut and spaced washers to the shaft and to each other, as a result we get a screw of three full turns with an outer diameter of slightly more than 100 mm and a pitch of 60 mm.
We grind the outer diameter of the screw to match the gutter diameter of 100 mm. We sharpen the ends of the auger in a circle and weld the support sleeve to the chute. We put several washers of different thicknesses on the end of the shaft. As the protrusion of the first turn of the auger wears out, the washers can be removed and compensate for its wear.
We rest one side of the auger shaft on the bushing, the other on the bearing in the housing. We weld the auger groove, and fasten the bearing housing with bolts and nuts to a base welded from steel angles.
Between the auger and the bearing housing we attach a hinged cover with a handle to direct the branches to the entrance to the auger. During operation, the cover is attached to the base using a bolt and wing nut.
A sheet steel platform with a special cutout is attached under the auger by welding. We also radially weld a rectangular plate to the shaft to distribute the incoming branches over the entire cross-section of the auger.
We cover the front bushing bearing with protection - a streamlined cone, which we fasten to the base with two bolts. We connect the input diffuser to the base using corners located at an angle and secure it with two bolts.
We install and secure a 6.5 liter Centaur DVZ-200B1 ha 6.5 liter petrol engine to the console welded to the chopper frame. With.We connect the drive pulley on the motor shaft with a double-groove pulley attached to the end of the auger shaft using two V-belts.
Branches and twigs are fed into the auger through the inlet diffuser. The shredder is able to dispose of branches up to 50 mm in diameter.
