Often the necessary tool, device or material is not at hand. But if you look around and think, you can find a solution. It is possible that from the 10 life hacks below, you will need some today, tomorrow or in the near future.

1. How to plug a plastic pipe without a standard plug

Using the flame of a gas burner, we heat the end of the plastic pipe to a plastic state, squeeze it with a large paper clip (binder) and hold it for some time. Then we remove the binder and get a strong and hermetically sealed solder.

2. How to lay wires along a wall or ceiling without special fasteners

Wing nuts are suitable for this. We turn them over and secure them with screws, placing the wires under its petals, which serve as supports for twisting or unscrewing.

3. How to strip insulation from a stranded wire without a stripper

If you do this with a knife, you can cut individual veins.By sharpening the front beveled part of the blade and drilling holes in the handle of the knife in front of the blade, you can carefully cut the insulation without damaging the wires.

4. How to easily cut a plastic pipe without damaging it when secured in a vice

Cutting a plastic pipe while holding it with your hands is inconvenient and dangerous. Clamping the pipe in a vice without pads can cause damage. Let's cut the pipe section in half lengthwise and screw the parts to strips of multi-layer plywood. By placing pads between the pipe and the jaws of the vice, we will ensure the integrity of the pipe and easy cutting.

5. How to secure wires to a wall or ceiling without special fasteners

We cut short fragments from the plastic pipe and cut them longitudinally. We fasten the fragments with the cuts outward to the surface and lay the wires in them. The thickest wire is best last, which will prevent the rest from jumping out through the cut.

6. How to repair an LED lamp with a piece of foil

We separate the flask from the cartridge and find the burnt out Light-emitting diode, which is darker than the others. Cut a square out of foil and glue it on top of the burnt one. LED conductive glue. We return the flask to its place and continue to use the light bulb.

7. How to bleed air from a radiator without spilling water

We cut out a large and small hole opposite each other under the neck of the plastic bottle. We press the large hole against the plug, and use a screwdriver to unscrew the screw plug through the small one. At the same time, water from the battery enters the bottle and the floor remains dry.

8. How can you replace the blade of a stationery knife?

We remove the cover and use the slider to remove the remainder of the unusable blade. In its place we install a hacksaw blade for metal. We return the engine and cover to their place. We cut off part of the blade and sharpen the bevel. The knife is ready for use again.

9. How to repair the latches on a power tool case

We cut 2 fragments from the plastic pipe with a length commensurate with the width of the latches on the case. We cut the fragments lengthwise, straighten one edge and drill holes. We fasten them with screws to the upper part of the latches so that the bend of the fragments is fixed on the lower part of the latches.

10. How to draw a circular arc or “petal” with a tape measure and find the center of the rectangle

We extend the measuring tape by the amount of the arc radius, hold the mark on the tape in the center of the circle and draw the desired arc with a pencil at the end of the tape. To draw a “petal”, we extend the tape a slightly greater distance from the edge of the workpiece to its center. Keeping the mark on the tape in the center of the side, draw an arc at the end of the tape with a pencil. We move the tape to the other side of the workpiece without changing the length, and also draw an arc. We get the outline of the “petal”. For convenience, extend the tape twice as much and bend it in half. This makes it more convenient to draw arcs. If we take the distance from the edge of the workpiece to its center as the radius and draw two arcs, taking the midpoints of opposite sides as the center of the circle, then they will touch exactly in the middle of the rectangle.
