To tidy up parts and products that have been lying around for many years, one of the suitable tools is a sandblasting machine, the cost of which in the store is considerable. In order not to waste money, you can assemble it yourself from old, used parts and components. This does not require special knowledge, qualifications or experience. All you need is desire and following the step-by-step instructions below.

Will need

Materials:

  • used fire extinguisher housing;
  • old connecting rod;
  • several spent spark plugs;
  • superglue package;
  • a can of aerosol paint;
  • compressed air supply hose and clamp;
  • finely sifted sand.

Tools: marker, drill, grinder, hammer, core, welding machine, bench vice, pliers, wire cutters, hair dryer, hand screwdriver.

The process of making a sandblaster from the body of an old fire extinguisher and spark plugs

We unscrew the shut-off and starting device from the fire extinguisher body and remove the siphon tube. In the center of the bottom of a steel container drill hole with a diameter of 10 mm.

We remove the tips for connecting high voltage wires from old car spark plugs. We remove the annular bead on top of the nut and the side electrode. Cutting with a diamond disc remove a skirt from the ceramic insulator and knock out the central electrode.

From the side of the cut we mark and then make a semi-cylindrical transverse recess to the central hole of the ceramic insulator. In a steel belt under the nut in two steps drill transverse hole with a diameter of 10 mm.

By welding to a drilled hole in the housing from one spark plug vertically weld second. We connect the third body by welding with the one in which hole drilled, their ends.

We weld the resulting structure to the hole in the bottom of the fire extinguisher body. We “place” one insulator with superglue in the hole of the spark plug body with transverse perforation so that the semi-cylindrical recess is on top. We fasten the second insulator in the same way in the hole of the third spark plug body, carefully tapping the insulators with a wooden block.

To the spark plug housings on the opposite side of the fire extinguisher container weld hold the connecting rod-handle over the large neck and paint the welding area.

We heat the end of the hose from the compressor with a construction hairdryer, pull it onto the insulator from the long side and tighten it with a worm clamp.

We pour fine sifted sand into the fire extinguisher body, protecting the respiratory system with a respirator.

We tightly close the hole in the housing with a shut-off and starting device, turn on the compressor and begin cleaning the parts from various deposits, deposits and rust.
