How to make a drip irrigation system from plastic bottles

Using a hot nail, we pierce a small hole in the bottom of the plastic bottle, into which we insert the end of a nylon lace from a sneaker.

Then use a wire hook to pull the lace out of the neck of the bottle and tie a simple knot at the end so that the lace cannot fall out.

We pull the lace out of the bottle through the hole until the knot rests on the bottom from the inside, and after retreating a small distance, we tie a second knot on the lace, but from the outside. Leave a small tail after the outer knot and cut off the lace with scissors.

The total length of the protruding part of the lace should be about 4 cm.

We place the bottle on a suitable object such as a flat stone or brick so that the lace is located above the root system of the irrigated plant. Unscrew the cap of the bottle and fill the container with irrigation water through a funnel.

We poke a small hole in the lid to allow air to enter as the bottle is emptied and screw it around the neck of the bottle.

Such a simple system will provide reliable and economical drip irrigation to the roots of vegetable and berry plants.
