To weave a box with an openwork pattern on the walls you will need:
-magazine tubes -112 pieces;
- a sheet of cardboard measuring 15 x 29 cm;
-scissors;
- a simple pencil;
-knife;
-PVA glue.
On a sheet of cardboard, 36 marks are made with a pencil at the same distance from each other. At the location of each mark, holes are made and magazine tubes are threaded through two-thirds of their length. Magazine tubes are hard and can break if bent sharply, so you need to knead them with your hands where they are bent. We bend both ends of the tubes - stands and wrap most of the stand on the other side of the cardboard bottom. The smaller part lies on the same plane as the cardboard. In order not to get confused in the upper and lower posts, one row is woven with a simple binding along large, vertical posts. For the first row, it is advisable to choose a darker-colored tube.
Now the racks of shorter length are clearly visible; a pattern is woven from them with a rope, wrapping them behind the upper tubes by threading them under the first row. If necessary, you can lift the weaving of the first row, and after finishing the work, press it to the bottom.
Three rows of simple weaving are made, then more working tubes are added, covering each pair of racks.For this work, tubes that are not painted, but of a bright color are selected and alternated with the rest through each pair of racks.
The zigzag pattern is made by binding one working thread folded in half with two ends. The end of each thread is woven along two posts at an angle, forming a zigzag. The second end forms a pattern on the next pair of posts.
Next, a new working thread is taken and a simple weave is woven, catching the ends of the pattern along the way and hiding them. A total of 4 rows are made and the weaving ends.
In order to hide the ends of the racks, they are intertwined with each other according to the “rope” principle.
The finished product is covered with a stain to match the color of cedar, then with a colorless varnish - impregnation. If desired, you can weave a lid to the box.
