To make tubes, cut the newspaper into 4 equal parts along the wide side.
Place the skewer on the edge of the strip at an angle of about 30-40 degrees. The smaller the angle, the thinner and longer the tube will be.
Pressing the newspaper tightly onto the skewer, twist the tube. Lubricate the remaining edge with PVA glue and glue it. The skewer must be carefully pulled out. Leave the tube to dry until completely dry. You need to make 150-200 of these tubes.
We begin to weave the bottom. To do this, we fold two groups of tubes, six pieces each, into a cross - into a cross. The tubes can be secured together with glue.
To weave, bend one tube in half. This tube is working. We braid all groups in turn with this tube.
We make two such circles. When the working tube runs out, it is extended with a new tube. To do this, we insert the tubes into each other. There is no need to use glue.
Braiding the next circle, we divide each group of tubes into three parts (two tubes each).
We braid two circles.We make subsequent circles, braiding each tube separately. We weave a circle of the required diameter.
In order to finish weaving the bottom, you need to cut off the ends of the tubes and glue them on the inside.
To weave the side walls, a mold is placed in the product. This could be a box, pan or jar. We bend the tubes that were braided and fasten them to the form (you can use clothespins).
Weaving is similar to weaving the bottom. We fold the working tube in half and braid each base tube.
To complete the weaving of the walls of the box, we cut the working tubes and glue them to the inside of the box. The tubes that stick out from the walls are cut, glued and, secured with clothespins, left to dry completely.
Weaving the lid for the box is done in the same way. The diameter of the lid should be larger than the diameter of the box. The box is painted after it has completely dried. The paint can be any: acrylic, gouache, watercolor or aerosol. For painting, mix paint with PVA glue in a 1:1 ratio. The glue will additionally saturate the tubes, giving the product rigidity. When dry, it becomes colorless without changing the tone of the paint.
It is necessary to paint the inner side surface first, because... Drops of paint may leak onto the front side.
Leave to dry for 15-20 minutes. The next stage is painting the bottom from the inside. After the paint has completely dried, the outside of the product is painted. The lid is painted in the same sequence: the inner side walls, the bottom from the inside and, lastly, the outer surface.
After drying, the box can be opened with acrylic varnish.This gives it shine and makes it more durable.
