In this master class we will work with self-hardening polymer clay. It has its advantages and disadvantages, which you will become familiar with during the master class. You will also learn how to quickly make beautiful flowers that can be useful for decoration.
For sculpting we will use self-hardening polymer clay FIMO air Light. There are several other reputable clay manufacturers you can use, such as Decoclay. FIMO air Light is distinguished by the fact that it is completely environmentally friendly and pleasant to work with.
We will also need toothpicks, scissors and a stack. With such a simple set of tools and hands you can create some pretty beautiful flowers.
Using a stack, we cut off as much clay as we need and immediately wrap the clay in film and a bag so that it does not dry out.
We knead the clay well in our hands and roll out a small sausage.
Mode using a stack into as many pieces as we will sculpt flowers and the size we need. Immediately place the pieces in a closed bag. This is the disadvantage of self-hardening clay, that you need to sculpt quickly before all the moisture has evaporated and the clay still remains plastic.
We form a ball from each piece, and a drop from it using our hands (don’t forget to hide it in a bag).
Take scissors and use the tips to cut the wide part of the droplet into four parts.
Carefully straighten the resulting petals of the future flower and shape them using a toothpick. It’s very simple: we stick the petal out onto our index finger and use a toothpick to press it down from start to finish until the shape we need is formed. You can bend the edges of the petals down, or you can make unopened petals - it all depends on your imagination and sleight of hand.
Make a hole in the flower with a toothpick to insert a bead there.
You can make as many petals as you need. The surface of the toothpick allows you to create an unusual relief on the petal, but for depth, you can use the tip of the toothpick to make several “scratches” from the center to the middle of the petal.
The lower part can be trimmed if necessary for the surface to be decorated.
If you don’t have the entire color range of clay, you can create it yourself. You just need to add a few drops of acrylic paint and knead the clay well in your hands. Just do not overdo it so that the clay does not lose all its properties and does not stick to your hands.
We string our flowers onto toothpicks and let them dry.
Using paint we can color the middle of our flowers.
While the clay has not dried, you can insert beads or seed beads into the middle - it fits perfectly to the size of the hole. We get beautiful flowers that can be used to decorate any surface.
The advantages of self-hardening polymer clay are that it allows you to quickly make very light, almost weightless flowers.
