One day I was thinking about how to make a simple macrame-style belt, but reliable, because ordinary belts often broke. I wanted the belt to have shiny beads. Initially I took a cord twisted from 2 threads, but it turned out to be very soft and did not hold its shape or appearance. You can only buy braided rigid cord from a hardware store.
So, for a belt 1 meter long you will need:
3 pieces of cord with a diameter of 1.5 mm and a length of 5.5 meters.
3 skeins of beads (125 each) with a diameter of 5 mm
Buckle (2.5 mm on the inside) - but, as it turned out later, a belt with a 3.5 mm buckle would have looked much better.
1. I burned the ends of the cord on a candle flame (to make it easier to put on the beads, folded it in half and secured it to the buckle with a double overhang so that the belt tongue was in the middle of one of the loops. Then I secured it on the outer threads 2 more times with an overhang on the left and right sides buckle.
This is how it happened:
2. Using the outermost thread on the right, I made a knot from right to left.
3. Using the second thread from the left we make a knot from right to left
4. Using the middle thread on the right we make a knot from right to left
5. Using the outermost thread on the left, make a knot from left to right around the third thread from the left.
6.With the second thread from the right we make a knot from left to right around the third thread from the left
and then with this thread (around which the knot was made) we make a knot from right to left
7. Next, use the second thread on the right to make a knot from left to right
8. Accordingly, with the third thread on the right we make a knot from left to right
and again from left to right:
9. This is how we formed a slash along which we will weave. We string beads onto the first and second threads from the left and make a knot from left to right
10. We continue like this until the penultimate thread. Using the fifth thread from the left, we make a knot around the sixth thread from the left without beads:
11. We weave like this until the end of the belt. And we cut off the ends of the belt and burn them with a soldering iron:
