Good afternoon. Today we will make a basket from newspapers.
For this we need:
-Newspapers.
-Glue pencil or PVA.
-Knitting needle.
-Cardboard.
-Scissors.
-Pencil.
-Glass.
-Acrylic paint.
- Varnish.
-Brush.

So, let's begin. First, take a newspaper and cut it into strips. I got strips 21 centimeters long and 8 centimeters wide.

cut the newspaper into strips

Having cut the strips, we begin to make tubes. To do this, take a knitting needle, place it on top of the strip a little diagonally and begin to twist the tube; the tip of the newspaper will need to be glued.

You should end up with tubes like this.

let's start making straws

Let's put the tubes aside. Now let's take cardboard, a glass, a pencil and make the bottom of the basket. You don’t have to take a glass; you can take something else that suits your size. I just want to make a little basket, so I took a shot glass.

we will make the bottom of the basket

We need to cut out two circles from cardboard, i.e. two bottoms for the basket.

cut two circles from cardboard

Take one circle and one tube.

Take one circle and one tube

The tube needs to be bent.

The tube needs to be bent

We will glue this bend to our bottom.

glue it to our bottom

Thus, we will glue 8 tubes.

glue it to our bottom

Take the second circle and glue it on top of the first circle.

Let's take the second round

So the base for our basket is ready. These tubes will be the side ribs of the basket. Now we take the tube, bend the tip and glue it to one edge of the basket.

side ribs of the basket

We draw it through each horizontal tube, lifting the edge up. We also glue the tip.

side ribs of the basket

We make the next two rows according to the same principle, only we go around the ribs from different sides.

Now is the time to use the glass again, insert it inside the basket.

Then weaving continues in the same way as before. The last row will be at the level of the edges of the glass.

braid the glass

Now you will need to cut off the excess length of the vertical tubes. We will cut the tubes not along the edge of the basket, but one centimeter above the edge, because we will need to coat the edges of the tubes with glue and hide them inside.

coat with glue

making a basket handle

We do this with all the tubes except two. These tubes will be the basis for the handle of our basket and therefore the tubes should be opposite each other. We take out the glass.

making a basket handle

We bend these tubes in the shape of an arc and glue them together.

making a basket handle

Now let’s strengthen the handle of the basket; to do this, take a tube, lubricate it with glue and wrap it around the handle. Let the basket dry.

making a basket handle

The basket is almost ready, all that remains is to paint it. Take acrylic paint, a brush and paint the basket. If the basket is not very even, then the shape can be corrected as you need.

After the paint has dried, the basket will need to be varnished. You can use clear varnish, or you can take Kusbak varnish. In general, this is what we got.
