An easy way to eliminate computer noise

Serviceable and clean computer equipment makes noise during operation, but it is so insignificant that it resembles a blow of wind. The same cannot be said about PCs and laptops that need to be cleaned, lubricated or repaired. Noise should not distract the user while working. Therefore, you need to know what causes it and how to quickly fix the problem.
There are three main causes of computer noise:
• pollution;
• wear of main parts;
• depletion of lubricant in one of the coolers.
It is difficult for a person who is not a computer professional to determine the true cause of the problem. Of course, if you have the time and desire, it is best to contact a service center. But in this article I want to tell you a method that helped me eliminate annoying noise before the computer technician arrived.
I would like to point out right away that this is not a panacea and the noise will return over time. This is a temporary measure that will help make the user’s life easier until the service center employee arrives.
Step 1. Initially, we need to listen to the computer and determine the source of the noise. Many parts can make noise.My noise was caused by the power supply cooler. This is what he looks like.

It is also clear that the cooler is dusty and needs cleaning, but, alas, a person who has never opened the power supply is better off not removing dirt or fully lubricating it on their own.

Step 2. We cannot completely remove the dirt that has accumulated in the fan without disassembling the power supply. But you can lubricate your computer. To do this you will need: a syringe (two), machine oil and a dry sponge.

I want to clarify right away: choose a syringe with a small needle, and only oil for sewing and household machines can be used as a lubricant. The ideal computer lubricant is undoubtedly thermal paste. It is thick, does not spread and maintains the working condition of all PC parts for a long time. But in this case you can do without it.
Step 3. We proceed directly to the remote lubrication. We take a little machine oil into the syringe.

Now let's return to our cooler. The fan axis is slightly visible behind the iron mesh. It is covered with a golden sticker. You need to carefully pierce this sticker with a needle in several places and introduce oil.

Step 4. Remove any remaining oil that has come to the surface using a dry sponge. That's all.

And finally, I want to say that such manipulations are always associated with risk. Therefore, think several times before taking my advice.

Be careful with oil, it’s easier to unscrew 8 screws and remove the fan itself than to risk splashing oil where it shouldn’t.

Oil does not conduct electric current, there is a method. But it’s better to disassemble (memorizing the stages and photographing each process (for beginners), remove the cooler, tear off that “golden sticker, pull out the rubber plug, remove the retaining ring, remove the “propeller”, remove the wound hair from the axle, wash and spray the blades with antistatic agent, dry, drip and put it back together (don’t forget about the locking one), seal it on top (preferably with paper - a sticker) with tape.

It’s not expensive, a tube/jar will last almost forever, the only way to lubricate it is by completely disassembling the cooler... But one procedure for a 24-hour worker the fan will last for six months to a year, and if you use it for a couple of hours a day, it will last for a couple of years... Well, we replace the sticker on the case with ordinary tape (you can also use masking paper), first paste it/smooth it 3-4 times tear off to clean the surface, then a couple of finishing layers, cut off the excess in a circle with a stationery knife... By the way, it is convenient to remove the fixing washers on coolers with thin tweezers, and put them in place with an empty pen refill (for case fans from a gel one).

Thermal paste does not fit here in any way.“It is better to lubricate with engine or transmission oil”; they work after heating and in a cold state they will only slow down the cooler. The cooler is not at such temperatures as to heat the oil.

I support that the lubricant will last for a week, maximum for a month.
In this case, the fan is 80, if there is a “Grill” for the fan,
then you can get by with little effort, without disassembling the system unit and without removing
power supply.
1) Using side cutters, carefully bite out the fan grille.
Very sharp burrs will remain, so measures must be taken to dull them.
Otherwise, you can get quite decent cuts.
2) Remove the sticker and take out the plug.
It is advisable to rinse the bearing from old dried grease; you can carefully dissolve it with alcohol (gasoline, acetone, solvent, etc.) and wipe off the residue with a cotton pad or cotton swab and only then lubricate it with new grease. With alcohol and other solvents without fanaticism, so as not to leak inside the power supply unit. Also, don’t be overzealous with the lubricant; if you pack it too tightly, the bearing can get very hot.
3) Close the plug, put a sticker on it, if it is still “alive”, if not, no problem, tape will help.
4) Place the grill grate on the fan, unscrew it and immediately put one screw in place so that the fan does not fall inside. And so one by one, the author has 2 screws, maybe all 4. If everything is done correctly and normal lubrication is used, then it will definitely last for a year. But it’s best to get rid of units with 80 fans, other than noise they are of no use.
As the author advised, do not do it without understanding what you are doing and how the fan works, 100% lubricant will remain only under the sticker. Good luck everyone!

In principle, you can do without a grille. Even if you accidentally stop the fan with your hand during operation, nothing bad will happen. At most, the power supply protection against overheating or stopping will work and the computer will turn off. Such a fan will not cause injury.

And personally, like Vyacheslav, I bite out the middle of the grille with side cutters, take out the rubber plug, wash the shaft and bearing with wd40 and lubricate it with aerosol lithium grease. This is a type of dissolved lithol, which becomes thick after drying. It lasts a long time.

I take the computer and drag it to the tire shop. There is a blow gun and compressed air. I take off the side and blow everything out. The main thing you need to know here is that the computer needs to be blown outside! )
