Bird amigurumi – Red from Angry Birds

Modern children are not fans of Winnie the Pooh or Cheburashka, but of angry birds and other heroes that they see in their gadgets. In this master class we will crochet Red the bird, the strong-willed, purposeful leader of the Angry Birds. It will become a long-awaited “exhibit” in your child’s toy collection.
You can knit figures from any thread. The size of the future toy will depend on the thickness of the yarn and the hook number. We took regular wool blend yarn and hooks number 2. To work you will also need:

Felt in white, black and burgundy.
The yarn is red and orange.
Darning needle.
Universal glue (transparent, gel-like).
Sintepon for stuffing.
Knitting body, crest and beak.
Make a central ring by wrapping the thread around your finger. Let us immediately note that knitting should be done in a spiral. For convenience and to avoid confusion, we recommend using a colored marker at the beginning of the row. In our case, this is a yellow paper clip.

Knitting the body.

Row No. 1: knit 10 single crochets (SC). Next, we tighten the ring by the short end of the thread so that there is no large hole at the beginning of work.

Subsequent rows are a gradual increase in the number of loops to obtain a knitted circle.
Row No. 2: double the number of loops by knitting 2 sc in each loop of the previous row. The result should be 20 sc.
Row No. 3: 20 RLS.
Row No. 4: /1 sc, 2 sc from the next loop/. Repeating the combination will increase the number of loops to 30.
Rows No. 5-6: 30 RLS.
Row No. 7: repeat the combination /1 sc, 2 sc in the next loop/;
Row No. 8: 45 RLS.
Row No. 9: 15-fold repetition of rapport / 2 sc, 2 sc in the next loop /
Rows No. 10-17: 60 RLS.
At this stage, the knitted fabric looks like this:

Row No. 18: Decrease stitches begin. /2 sc, 1 sc in 2 loops/, repeating the rapport will lead to a reduction in the number of loops to 45.
Rows No. 19-20: 45 RLS.
Row No. 21: repeat rapport 15 times / 1 sc, 1 sc in 2 loops.
Row No. 22: 30 RLS.
Row 23 and the following: /1 sc, 1 sc in 2 loops/. Repeat the repeat until there is a small hole left for stuffing.

Next, tightly stuff the resulting hollow ball with padding poly:

After stuffing, sew up the hole:

Knitting a beak.
We knit a beak from orange yarn.
At the beginning of the work, we collect a chain of 20 VP (air loops) and close them into a ring with a connecting loop. Knitting continues in a spiral.
Rows No. 1 - 2: 20 SBN

Row No. 3 and further: repeat repeat / 1 sc, 1 sc in 2 loops / until the loops of the previous row end and the hole is closed.

Knitting a tuft from 2 parts.
We knit 2 identical tufts and sew them together.
Form a central ring by wrapping the yarn around your index finger.
Row No. 1: after knitting 15 sc, we tighten the ring by the short tail of the thread so that the hole becomes small.
Row No. 2: 15 sc.
Row No. 3: repeat repeat 5 times /1 sc, 1 sc in 2 loops/
Rows No. 4 -6: 10 sc.
Row No. 7: /1 sc, 1 sc in 2 loops/.There will be 5 stitches left in the row.
Using the same pattern we knit the second crest. We sew the resulting elongated products together:

Next we sew all the parts together:

Cut out and glue parts of the felt figure.
We cut out the eyes, whites of the eyes, and pupils from black and white felt. The menacing, characteristic Red eyebrows are made of black felt. The flushed cheeks are made of burgundy felt.
