Do it yourself
Life hacks, master classes, useful tips, recipes.
This master class will help us make not just an ordinary leather cover that can be bought in any store, but a cover with a beautiful, glamorous lady that will go perfectly with you, or with the girl for whom you want to make one present.
To make a leather cover we will need to take:
• A piece of leather measuring 20*30 cm;
• Sintepon;
• White cardboard;
• Two blanks of binding cardboard measuring 9.5*13.4 cm;
• The inscription passport and a picture with a spectacular girl, printed on a color printer and then laminated (this can be done in any photo studio);
• Bronze-colored metal pendant Eiffel Tower;
• The brads are plain purple and in a silver frame with a red stone;
• Scrapbooking paper;
• Glue with the effect of double-sided tape;
• Glue stick;
• Scissors;
• Ruler and pencil;
• Double-sided tape;
• Passport for sample;
• Needle with thread;
• Sewing machine;

So, let's proceed to the first stage, making a cardboard backing for the cover. I would like to warn you right away that the product is quite thick, so the machine must sew through a thick layer.We lay two binding rectangles 9.5 * 13.4 cm, cut out a strip of white thick cardboard 5.5 * 13.4 cm. Divide the cardboard strip into three parts 2.5 * 0.5 * 2.5 cm and crease (draw lines bending).

Now we smear this strip on both sides with a glue stick and glue it onto the binding cardboard, connecting it into a cover.

Now we cut off a piece of leather so that we have two pockets 5.5 cm wide and 19.8 cm wide for the width of the cover itself, and measure 18.5 cm in height, leaving for the folds.

Now we measure a piece of padding polyester to the size of the binding blank. We glue the padding polyester using pieces of double-sided tape.

Now we fold the sides of the leather cut and baste it with a thread and a needle.

Now we need a little imagination, we wrap the skin on top and sides in order to figure out where we should place the picture and the inscription “Passport”. Using double-sided strips of tape we glue the inscription and the picture with the girl. We laminate the pictures so that the cover does not fray or get wet when worn.

We sew on both the picture and the inscription using white thread. Now we cut out a flower from leather, insert a brad with a stone inside it, and in the upper corner we attach the tower using a metal brad.

We sew the sides of the cover with a machine using burgundy threads. Turn the piece of leather face down and place the cardboard blank. Now we need to glue the folds using a glue stick.

We spread the top part, press it well and hold it under pressure a little, then do the same on the bottom. Now we grab the folds at the top and bottom on both sides with a machine. Cut a 13.2*19.3 cm piece from scrap paper.

We smear the entire cardboard surface with a glue stick and glue the scrap piece, smooth it out and press it.

Now we stretch and wrap the sides. In several places we grab it by hand with a needle. Now we sew the entire cover in a circle using a machine with burgundy thread.

Carefully remove the bastings and you’re done. All that remains is to wrap it as a gift or put your passport in it. Thank you for your attention!
