If you have a table lamp or sconce that does not have a shade, then you don’t necessarily have to spend money on purchasing one. Making a lampshade with your own hands is not at all difficult. A self-made lampshade will not only become a magnificent decoration for absolutely any interior, but will also allow you to save a lot of money.

In order to make a lampshade for a table lamp you will need:

  • 1). Bucket made of transparent plastic. A pickle or mayonnaise bucket works well;
  • 2). White acrylic paint;
  • 3). Synthetic brush for applying paint;
  • 4). Contours for glass and ceramics with metallic shades. For example, gold, copper, silver and bronze are suitable;
  • 5). Pencil;
  • 6). Ruler;
  • 7). Scotch;
  • 7). Scissors;
  • 8). Stencil depicting flowers;
  • 9). Knife.

Making a lampshade can be divided into several stages:

1.Using a knife or scissors, cut a hole in the bottom of the bucket, focusing on the dimensions of the lamp socket;

2. Apply white acrylic paint to the bottom of the bucket with a brush and wait until it dries.As a rule, the paint dries completely very quickly (in about 1-2 hours); 3.When the paint is completely dry, begin to apply the pattern along the glass. Make small dots, trying not to smear them; 4. Gradually fill the entire space of the bottom with a pattern of dots;

5.Also paint the edges of the bucket with white paint. And when the paint dries, also create a pattern of dots; 6.Measure the height of the bucket. In this case, it is 11 cm. Using a pencil and ruler, measure 11 cm on the stencil and carefully cut it along this line; 7.Wrap the stencil around the bucket and secure it with small pieces of tape; 8.Place the lampshade that you made with your own hands on the lamp. Screw in the light bulb and turn on the light. Please note that such a lampshade can only be used in combination with energy-saving light bulbs that do not heat up too much. So, now you know how to make a lampshade with your own hands. If you don’t have a stencil, then you can make it yourself by carefully cutting out the pattern you like from thick paper.
