How to knit a stole that requires no more than 100 grams of yarn? How to knit a stole that will be an airy decoration for a dress or suit, and will decorate a set of clothes even on very warm days, without creating a steam room? How to knit a stole quickly enough, using your knitting skills, but without spending extra time on it? It seems that such questions often arise among craftswomen or those who try and experiment with a variety of knitted patterns. Also for those who need to quickly produce present, urgently add a decorating accessory to an evening dress, spend a small remainder of beautiful yarn. This model is especially for you; on the one hand, it will pleasantly surprise you with its relative simplicity and speed of production, on the other hand, it will become an attractive, non-trivial and noticeable item in your wardrobe.
The highlight of the proposed stole is that it is almost weightless, very airy knit, which will serve decorative purposes. The pattern chosen for the central part of the stole is called “chain-link”, because it really resembles the structure of a metal mesh chain-link.The pattern is not complicated, but treacherous, it must be done with a confident hand so that the canvas turns out to be a single whole, otherwise it will look ugly, it may warp when worn, and lose its shape.

Initially we cast on 55 vp (the number of loops must be a multiple of 5), then 2 vp. for lifting. We knit the 2nd row completely with double crochets. Then we make the pattern according to the pattern *3 double crochets in each loop of the bottom row, 2 ch*. In the next row the pattern shifts: *3 double crochet stitches in vp. bottom row, 2 ch. double crochets of the bottom row*. We perform 50 rows, following the pattern.

The next three rows are made according to the “cell” pattern: *3 double crochets, 3 ch*. Following the same pattern, 2 more rows are performed, shifting the cells in a checkerboard pattern. After three rows of cells, we tie along the contour with one row of double crochets to move on to the next pattern.

The final binding of the stole should give the edge a wavy appearance. For this, the following knitting pattern is used: 2 ch. for lifting, then repeating rapport *2 double crochet stitches in each loop of the bottom row, ch 5, 2 double crochet stitches in each stitch of the bottom row*. We get a small loop along the entire contour. We knit corner loops 5 ch each. in each. For lifting we always use 2 ch.

The most common mistakes made when knitting products with such sparse air knitting.
1. Incorrect tool selected. If you use a hook of the wrong number, the product will turn out unsteady, will not hold its shape, and will become deformed. We used fairly thin yarn 430 m per 100 g. This means that the maximum allowable hook number is N4. With this hook, the knitting turns out airy, but not too loose. In this case, you need to have a fairly confident hand so as not to tighten or loosen the loops during the knitting process. The knitting should be very uniform.
2. Loss of loops on the edges of the product. With such a mesh knitting pattern, it’s easy to lose count of completing a row. As a result, the canvas can be narrowed or widened, which is unacceptable. Therefore, be careful, periodically straighten the canvas, check the correctness of the rapports.
3. When the knitted fabric is very loose and has a mesh structure, it is desirable to create “lines of rigidity” that will support the structure of the fabric. It is not recommended to make the mesh fabric wider than 30 cm, so that it does not sag later.
