An original gift, at the same time a toy and a useful thing, made with your own hands, present with meaning and to the point - it’s always very pleasant.
One such universal gift is a piggy bank. The reason for gifting a piggy bank can be anything, from a wedding or the birth of a child to plans for a purchase or the realization of a dream. A children's version of a toy piggy bank is offered, which is made from a plastic container by tying it with yarn.
To work you will need:
• plastic jar from defender wipes (PET);
• balls of multi-colored yarn;
• a pair of buttons – a peephole;
• button – nose;
• crochet hook No. 2.5 – 3
• thermal gun;
• scissors;
• awl.
For the base, choose a plastic jar from Defender wipes. It is convenient in its shape and volume, and also has a very comfortable tongue closure.
We prepare the basis for the piggy bank. It is necessary to make two holes in it: one in order to lower coins, the other in order to remove savings.
The bottom of the plastic jar will become the top of the piggy bank, and the lid with a latch-tab will become the bottom part.To do this, we heat the awl on the fire and use it to burn a narrow slotted hole in the bottom of the PET, such that a five-ruble coin can pass freely.
Next, we fold back the round latch in the lid and also burn a hot awl along the contour of the inner part of the circle, so that the round hole is smaller than the latch.
To prevent the edges of the holes in the plastic from being rough and scratched after melting, we process them using a small file or nail file. The base is ready.
Next, pour out the remaining multi-colored yarn and select suitable colors from the balls. Having selected several colors of thread, we begin to knit from the bottom. We crochet 15 air loops and close them into a ring. Then we begin to knit with dense double crochets in a circle and knit several rows until the circle is the size of the bottom of a plastic bottle. This ring will allow access to the bottom hole of the piggy bank.
Then we raise knitting, trying it on PET, so that it looks like a cover on top of the can. Using threads of different colors, we tie the entire jar to the top.
In the upper part we reduce the loops, closing the base until the knitting covers the PET, but so that the slot hole remains accessible. We get a covered jar.
We make parts for a piggy bank toy. We will make pom-poms from white yarn as the paws, tail and forelock of the bunny. If there is no device for making pompoms, then we do it simpler: we wind the threads on three connected fingers in a dense layer, tie them with an additional thread in the center, then remove the yarn and cut it on both sides. Let's fluff it up. Then we trim it with scissors until it is round.
We knit bunny ears from colored yarn.To do this, we cast on a chain of 15 chain stitches, then we tie them twice in a circle with double crochets. In the third row from the middle we switch to single crochets, we knit 3 of them and break the thread. This way, each ear will be slightly wider at one end.
For the bottom, we knit a dense round element the size of a PET bottom, which must be tucked into the bottom hole to close the latch of the plastic can. When the time comes to mine the accumulated coins, this insert can be pulled out and the hole opened.
Using yarn of a different color, we crochet the simplest flower.
We collect the bunny. The most practical way to do this is with hot glue. Glue on the round buttons for the eyes and nose. Glue the pom-pom paws, tail and forelock in place. We do the same with the ears. The work is finished.
Such a gift can be given, for example, to a child who has a dream, to save up for a hamster or a puppy, or maybe for some kind of game, roller skates, soccer ball or other desire.
