So, during operation, vacuum cleaners known throughout the world are found to have certain shortcomings that lead to a decrease in their technical and operational characteristics.
Thus, the dust bag, filling up during operation, begins to block the hole in the partition between the suction fan and the vacuum chamber, which is connected using a corrugated hose and a tube with a cleaning brush. Structurally, this hole is covered with a piece of thin foam rubber to prevent dust from getting onto the fan.
As a result, as the dust bag fills with debris, the suction power of the vacuum cleaner begins to gradually decrease and, in the end, may disappear completely. What can be done in this case?
Ways to improve the design of a vacuum cleaner
The idea of getting rid of the specified defect found in a vacuum cleaner is understandable. It is necessary to prevent the dust bag from blocking the suction opening as it is filled. In other words, there should always be a small gap between them for free air suction.
For this purpose, a sufficiently rigid (metal or plastic) grid is installed in front of the suction hole on the side where the garbage container is located, which will not bend under the influence of the air flow and the pressure of the bag filled with garbage.
It is this that will be guaranteed to create the required gap.
Another noticeable flaw in this vacuum cleaner is related to the flexible hose connector. When it is secured in the vacuum cleaner body with a latch, its tube does not extend beyond the inner wall of the chamber in which the dust collector is installed.
As a result, it turns out that a significant portion of the sucked air bypasses the dust bag and, flowing around it, leaves the vacuum cleaner without any benefit. How to cope with such a disadvantage?
To do this, you need to take a piece of plastic tube of the appropriate diameter and length, which should be sufficient to fit into the hole of the still empty bag.
We insert this piece of tube into the hole of the connecting element, place it on suitable glue, wait for it to dry and the household appliance is ready for use. After such modification, all the sucked in dirty air enters the bag and dust and debris completely settle there.
To expand the capabilities of the vacuum cleaner, if the kit includes only one brush, you can use attachments from other brands of vacuum cleaners. Perhaps with some minor modifications that almost anyone can handle.
Moreover, during the operation of the modified vacuum cleaner, another advantage was discovered: it continues to properly remove dust even when the bag is full. This is the suction force that causes the garbage to be compressed into the container.
Usually good ideas have many useful manifestations. The data, for example, almost completely captures the dust, which settles in the dust collector, and the sucked air does not pollute the engine, in particular its bearings and brushes, which wear out less. Also, the load on the electric motor is reduced, since the hole behind the boot is not blocked.
The only thing to remember is that before removing the filled bag from the vacuum cleaner, you must disconnect the flexible hose. But the dust collector compartment always remains clean and there is no need to remove dust from it, which is not so easy due to its configuration and the presence of stiffening ribs.
Two final comments
Choosing a plastic mesh will protect the vacuum cleaner body from scratches. When using a metal mesh, rubber or plastic strips can be easily attached to its edges.
Epoxy or polyurethane glue is often used to glue plastic parts. The connection will not be very strong and durable. From time to time the procedure will have to be repeated.
To glue, or rather dissolve and solder plastic, you first need to find out its type. Then find a suitable solvent. But as a result, the connection will be “tight”.
