One of the commonly used hand tools for plumbing is a screwdriver. Therefore, it constantly needs care and regular updating, especially if the handle is made of durable but scratchy plastic. Along with the return of the usual qualities, it can be endowed with new useful functions.

The upcoming work will not require any special skills or abilities, as well as unusual materials and tools. All you have to do is prepare the following:
- a worn screwdriver;
- grinder with abrasive wheel;
- marker;
- bench vice;
- drill with drills;
- tube of liquid plastic.
The process of repairing and upgrading an old screwdriver
If you correct the tip and align the tip, the screwdriver can be used for its intended purpose. To do this, we process it on an emery wheel mounted on the spindle of the grinder. At the same time, we will remove rust from the metal rod and minor damage.
The idea of modifying a slotted screwdriver is as follows. On the flat edge of the tip along the longitudinal axial line, apply two dots, one below the other, with a marker.
We clamp the screwdriver rod in a vice so that the tip is located on the side in a horizontal position with the marks facing up. Using a drill, guided by the points, we drill two holes, and one hole may be larger than the other.
We apply liquid plastic from a tube to the broken part of the handle, which we use by tilting and turning to give it a shape close to the given one. After some time, the fluid substance will harden and the handle will return to its original form.
Using a modernized screwdriver for a new purpose
A nail protruding from a wooden board, when bent only with a hammer, poses a certain danger, since the point remains outside.
By using a modified screwdriver, we will not allow this to happen. We thread the nail into the hole and, using it as a lever, bend the top of the nail towards the board.
We hit the bent nail with a hammer and its tip plunges deep into the board.
Our screwdriver can also be used to secure a hose to a water pipe under pressure of several atmospheres. We put the hose on the pipe, wrap it around it with wire, pass the ends into the holes of the screwdriver and begin to rotate it left or right.
After a few turns, the twist will reach the hose and tighten it around the pipe so that the hose can no longer be pulled together even with two hands.
Using a larger hole, you can pull the nail out of the board.
To do this, we push the head of the nail through the hole and, using a screwdriver as a lever, and turning the edge of the board into a stop, we pull out the fastener.
So, we not only returned the screwdriver to serviceable condition, but also endowed it with new functions and expanded its scope.
