Super capacitors (ionistors) are not afraid of critical currents, therefore they are often used in power units where peak currents occur for a short time. Taking this feature into account, it is possible to build a welding machine using high-capacity super capacitors.
Will need
- 8 super capacitors (ionistors), can be purchased at AliExpress - http://ali.pub/3xh6z5.
- Power wires with an electrode holder.
- Connecting jumpers, nuts, washers.
The capacitors themselves have a capacity of 3000 Farads and a voltage of 2.7 Volts each.
The power is colossal, so the output is not for soldering, but for screwing.
Assembling an electric arc welding machine from super capacitors
We assemble 4 pairs of super capacitors in pairs. We connect these pairs only on one side “+” with “-”.
Next we assemble it into a block. We connect together all the “+” with “+” and “-” with “-”.
As a result, we ended up with a battery of two consecutive groups. Where in each group there are 4 ionistor included in parallel.
Total voltage: 2,7 + 2,7 = 5,4 B. This is a maximum that cannot be exceeded.
Let's now calculate the capacity: 3000 x 4 = 12000 Farad at 2.7 V group voltage. And the total capacity is also 12000 Farads, at a voltage of 5.4 V.
We connect the wires with the electrode holder. There should not be very long wires, otherwise all the power will remain on them.
We fix the bolt in a vice and connect the negative wire.
We fix the electrode and try to cook.

In principle, everything works. It is problematic to maintain the arc stably at such a low voltage, but it is still quite possible. I think you can see everything for yourself.
