To perform such an operation, there are special tools, but in order not to waste money, you can do them yourself and this does not require high qualifications and expensive materials.

All we need is:

- glass cutter;
- nail;
- glue "Moment";
- self-tapping screws;
- Double-sided tape.
Tools and equipment you will need: drill, wood saw, file, vice, hammer, clamp, chisel, sandpaper, plane, scissors and safety glasses.
The process of making compasses and cutting round glass
We will mainly make compasses from wooden blocks of square section. First, drill the block on one side.
At the end of the block that will be placed on the axle, we glue the second (short) one with “Moment” glue to compensate for the protrusion of the glass cutter head.The axis is a wooden block in the form of a square, into the center of which a nail is driven.
In the longest block, using a file, a hacksaw, a chisel and a plane, we make a recess for installing the tool.
The distance from the axis of rotation to the place where the glass cutter is attached must exactly correspond to the radius of the circle being cut.
We clamp the cutting tool on top with a small block, also with a cutout, and fasten it with self-tapping screws, having previously drilled holes of a smaller diameter so that the bars do not crack.
Using sandpaper attached to the holder, remove burrs from the compass and round the edges so as not to injure your hands in the process of cutting a circle from glass.
We put the glass cutter holder on the axle and our homemade device is completely ready for the work for which it was intended.
We fix the glass blank on a flat surface using double-sided tape so that it does not move while cutting out the circle. We also fix the center of rotation of the compass with double-sided tape in the center of the glass workpiece.
We put on safety glasses, press the glass cutter with one hand, and with the other, holding the axis of rotation, draw a closed circle around the glass workpiece with the cutting tool.
We turn the workpiece over and tap the glass cutter along the cutting line on the reverse side.
To make the outer part of the workpiece easier to separate from the circle, use a glass cutter to draw lines from the edge of the workpiece to the circular line and also tap them.
We process the outer edges of the cut disk with sandpaper to dull them and make them safe for further use.
