The connection of a metal structure from a profile pipe usually involves the use of electric welding. When this is not available, you have to hire a welder, even if the amount of work is small, for example, assembling a gate to the backyard. If you want to do everything yourself, then you can use the method of connecting a profile pipe to wooden inserts, which is suitable for the manufacture of gates, gates, enclosures, fences, etc.

Materials:

  • profile pipe;
  • wooden slats;
  • furniture corners;
  • long wood screws;
  • short screws for metal;
  • steel mesh or corrugated sheeting.

Assembling pipes onto wooden inserts

First you need to cut the profile pipe to make the frame. For the gate you will need 5 blanks. Of these, 4 form the frame, and 1 is used as a stiffening crossbar. For gates, you will need more crossbars.

Next, dry wooden slats need to be pressed into the ends of the pipes. Their cross-section should be several millimeters larger than the internal size of the pipes. The slats are planed to the required parameters, and hammered into the end of the pipes as deeply as possible with a hammer.It is important to use dried bars so that later they do not fall out as they dry, like wet slats.

To connect the blanks into a frame, you need to drill the edges of two pipes opposite the end of the adjacent parts. The resulting holes are countersunk and long wood screws are driven through them.

The fastener will fit into the adjacent pipe block, ensuring a reliable connection. In this way all the parts are fastened together. You also need to make holes in the center of the frame to install the crossbar.

Fastening with one self-tapping screw only provides resistance to tearing. In this case, pipes screwed at the end can rotate.

To strengthen the structure, you need to screw furniture aluminum or mounting perforated galvanized corners into the corners.

It is better that their width corresponds to the cross-section of the profile pipe. They are attached to metal screws. The corners will not only provide rigidity, but will also allow you to maintain a right angle. But before screwing them to the frame, you still need to first align it with a square.
Next, a welded mesh or corrugated sheet is cut to the size of the frame. They are screwed onto metal screws. Corrugated sheeting can also be fastened with rivets.

Installation of the gate in the opening is carried out on ordinary door hinges.

They sit on self-tapping screws, just like padlock eyes or a hook. Using this method, without the use of electric welding, you can make a full-fledged strong metal structure. For reliability, the ends of pipes with wooden inserts must be well painted or tarred. This assembly method, unlike welding, allows the frame to be disassembled later without damaging the workpieces by cutting.

    You! What a great idea you came up with!!! Class! But it wouldn’t hurt to “soak” the pieces of wood in drying oil or machine oil. It would be possible to boil it in machine oil. And everything is so wonderful! At 5 with "+"!
