Making a hoe
Along the welded seam of a pipe with a diameter of 70-80 mm, marks are applied 80 mm and 140 mm from the edge. Then it is wrapped in a sheet of paper at the 140 mm mark, and a circle is drawn along it.
You need to make a mark on the circle on the opposite side of the weld. After this, you need to connect this point with two lines to the previously made mark of 80 mm. To do this, a sheet of paper is applied to them, first on one side and then on the other.
The marked part of the pipe is cut off with a grinder along oblique lines. The result is a workpiece with a flat end on one side and a teardrop-shaped cut on the back.
The walls of its pointed edge need to be sharpened.
A handle made of a half-inch tube is welded to the resulting workpiece. To do this, the end of the latter is cut at 45 degrees. The length of the tube is adjusted to the height of the person who will use the hoe. The tool is ready to use. If in its manufacture a main pipe with thick walls was used, which made the working part heavy, then a wooden handle can be used as a handle. To do this, a short steel tube is welded to the pipe, and the handle is driven into it.
The homemade tool, due to its rigidity and weight, easily cuts down young trees that have grown on the site from seeds that have fallen into the soil. Moreover, the cutting occurs underground close to the root, so the seedling will not come down again. Also, a weighted hoe helps deal with the remaining wheatgrass bushes on previously plowed virgin soil. Using a hoe, they can be pulled out of the soil and then removed from the site so that the wheatgrass does not take root again.
A pipe hoe can also be used when planting seeds. She cuts a hole with one blow and captures the earth in the tube. After planting the seeds, the soil is shaken back and leveled. If the tool is planned to be used purely for this purpose, then it can initially be made from a thin-walled pipe so that it is lightweight.
