Forge manufacturing process
The source of flame in the mini forge will be a gas burner. You need the cheapest regular one without piezo ignition with a tube between the valve and the burner. You need to spray it in half, and then connect the ends of the tube using a thin elastic hose.
The body of the forge will be a hollow cinder block. You just need not a light thin-walled one, but a heavy one for load-bearing walls. About a third of the cinder block needs to be cut off. The blind hole in the cut part will be the bowl of the forge. It is better if it is round, but rectangular will do.
In the cut part of the cinder block, a hole with a diameter of 20 mm is drilled from the side approximately in the center through one wall. You need to insert a burner into it.
Thus, we get an extremely simple mini forge.When using it, you don’t have to worry that the gas cylinder will heat up, since it is located at a distance thanks to the extension hose. This allows you to heat the workpieces for as long as you like. You can cover the forge with a brick or cut a small piece from the same cinder block and use it as a lid.
It is also worth noting that the modified burner will be useful, in addition to ensuring the operation of the forge, also for conveniently heating surfaces in hard-to-reach places where a gas cylinder cannot fit. In addition, since the cylinder remains in place at all times, the flame from the burner is always even. When you usually operate a torch with an attached cylinder, the torch intensifies when agitated, which is unacceptable for delicate work.
When using a good cinder block, the forge bowl can withstand heating and cooling normally. Such a small burner heats the concrete smoothly, so it does not crack. If this happens over time, then at least 1 more bowl can be made from the cut cinder block. The mini forge will cope with its tasks quite well, and much better than simply heating workpieces in the open air. Its use will reduce gas consumption and allow parts to be heated to higher temperatures.
