When burying posts or simply planting plants from pots, it is convenient to use a garden auger. It is easier, faster and more accurate to work with than a shovel. Making a drill with welding and a grinder is not difficult.
Materials:
- sheet steel 2-3 mm;
- 1/2 inch pipe;
- strip 20 mm.
The process of making a garden auger
On sheet steel you need to outline the base of the auger blade. First you need to draw a rectangle with a width of 16 cm and a height of 17 cm. Then a longitudinal line of 22 cm is drawn in its center. It must be connected to the side marks. The result is a drawing reminiscent of a child's drawing of a house. On the center line, opposite the edge of the side ones, it is necessary to mark the drilling point.
The drawing is cut out with a grinder. A hole is drilled in it with a 20 mm crown.
Then the workpiece unfolds along the center line from the smooth edge to the hole.
Now you need to bend the waves along the halves of the workpiece, like slate. Moreover, the direction of bending should be opposite to each other. Everything is bent with a hammer. Next, the halves are moved apart to form a wedge.The distance between the waves will correspond to the drilling diameter.
Next, a half-ring from a bent strip is welded to the knife to add rigidity.
A regular T-shaped handle made of pipe is welded to it.
As a result, we get a very good drill, which during operation is densely filled with soil, which allows us to prepare clean wells. This is not at all superfluous, especially if they are drilled for transplanting plants from pots.
