When connecting household appliances and various electrical equipment, it may be necessary to determine their level of energy consumption in a certain mode. To do this, you can make a special extension cord. Electronic components for it can be ordered on Aliexpress, thereby minimizing the cost of homemade products.

What you will need:

The process of making an extension cord with an ampere-voltmeter

Windows are cut into the covers of the junction box for an outlet, a voltmeter, an ammeter, and a switch.

A hole for the wire is drilled in the lower part. It needs to be secured with a knot or glued.

One wire from the ammeter of the voltmeter will connect to the power wire. Then their twist is clamped into the socket terminal.

The second power cord is connected to the switch. A jumper is already laid from it to the second contact of the socket through a ring transformer. You will need to solder the second wire from the ammeter of the voltmeter to it.

Then all that remains is to secure the coil from the device motionless and close the box.

Such a device can be made with a long wire and can also be used as an extension cord. You can determine the power consumption of switched-on devices by simply multiplying the displayed values on the device display, that is, amperes by volts. For example, when you connect the phone charging, the device shows 226 V and 0.07 A. After multiplying, we get the smartphone consumption level of 15.82 W.

Soldering iron consumption.
