Charcoal briquettes, which are usually purchased for barbecues, can be made by yourself. For this, the simplest technology available to everyone is used. Having understood the basics of production, you can improve it and produce coal on a large scale, even for sale.
What you will need:
- Charcoal;
- flour;
- water;
- pipe with a diameter of 40-50 mm;
- hammer;
- bar.
Briquette manufacturing process
First you need to make a mold for pressing briquettes. It is a piece of round or profile pipe with a cross-section of 40-50 mm and a length of 100-200 mm.
Next you need to prepare charcoal. It can be done by simply lighting firewood in a pit and covering the fire with soil. Due to the lack of oxygen and high temperature, they will turn into coals. The finished coal is crushed into powder.
Without special equipment, this is done simply by striking with a hammer. The coals themselves are wrapped in cloth to prevent the fragments from scattering.
A paste of hot water and flour is poured into the coal dust. For a third of a bucket of powder you need 3 tbsp. flour. Then everything is mixed and cold water is added so that the coal can be compressed into lumps.
The wet powder with paste is filled into the mold, then a wooden block is inserted into it.
The diameter of the latter must correspond to the internal cross-section of the pipe. By hitting the block, you need to press the coal in, and then knock it out of the mold.
The resulting briquettes are dried for several days, after which they can be used for their intended purpose.
