Plastic parts, especially HDPE, can be dissolved to create an adhesive mass. Let's look at how to make it and why it is needed. There are many options for using it, but in reality, not all of them are justified.

What you will need:

  • Plastic scrap;
  • xylene;
  • container made of glass or PET plastic with a lid.

The manufacturing process of liquid plastic and its application options

To obtain the solution, plastic is suitable, from which the housings of household and office equipment are made. It needs to be crushed, placed in a glass or PET container, and filled with xylene.

First a little solvent is added. If it is all absorbed, but the crumbs do not dissolve, then it needs to be topped up.

The plastic will dissolve within a day. During this time, you will need to stir it several times so that there are no thick lumps left. The composition must be dissolved and stored in a container with a lid.

Gluing plastic

This composition can be used for gluing the same plastics. If, for example, it is made from HDPE, then it is capable of gluing this material very well.

If you use raw materials of the same color as the surface being repaired, then the gluing area will be almost invisible. This glue holds well.

Metal painting

This composition is excellent for painting metal. It protects the surface from corrosion better than paint, as it scratches less. The only problem is that such a coating looks heterogeneous. It is perfect for protecting structures for which only anti-corrosion protection is important, and not aesthetics.

Casting parts

Theoretically, such plastic can be used for casting parts. In fact, even after several days it does not dry out. You can use it this way, but you will have to wait weeks for it to harden until the solvent wears off.

Gluing metal and other materials

The adhesion of liquid plastic is high, so it can also be used for gluing metal, tiles and other non-absorbent surfaces. If you let it dry well, the glue holds tightly. It can be used in this way.

    Friends, polyethylene, and especially HDPE, DOES NOT DISSOLVE in xylene! Do not mislead people. Moreover, xylene is sold in HDPE bottles. And in the pictures you use it as a container.
