When it becomes necessary to insert a tap into a container with a narrow neck, difficulty arises because your hand cannot fit into it. As a result, it is not possible to insert the fitting from the inside. There is really no way to solve this in a conventional way, but there is a little trick that will help.
What you will need:
- Wire;
- single-core wire in insulation;
- tap;
- 1/2-inch brass tank insert with gaskets;
- bolt.
The process of inserting a tap into a tank or barrel
It is necessary to drill a hole in the tank for inserting a tap. The burrs resulting from drilling are processed. Next, a tightening loop is made on a long single-core wire. The edges of the wire from it in two directions should be at least slightly longer than the height of the tank. Then the bolt is tightened in the loop.
A insert with a gasket with the mushroom facing forward is put on one edge of the wire. It slides towards the loop and a tied bolt is inserted into it.
Now the edge of the wire on which the insert is located is lowered into the tank. At the bottom, through the drilled hole, you need to hook it with a wire hook, and then pull it out.
By pulling the wire towards you, you need to bring the insert directly into the hole.
A gasket is put on the insert and the nut is screwed on.
The wire is no longer needed, it can be pulled out. All that remains is to tighten the nut and install the tap. To prevent the insert from turning, a hexagon is inserted into it, and if it is not there, then a bolt head of a suitable size.
