The process of making a river stone shell
For a selected boulder of sufficient width, it is necessary to trim the flat side to make the bottom of the sink with which it will stand on the countertop. To do this, use a large grinder with a diamond disc for stone. To ensure that it does not quickly wear out and there is no dust, the tool will need to be modified. The body of the angle grinder needs to be protected with a rubber screen from the car camera, and a hose with water should be led to the protective casing. The stone is cut in a circle. After trimming, it is cut into plates, which are then chipped with a hammer and chisel.
The rough bottom must be made smooth by grinding with a grinder with the same disc.
Then the stone turns over.
Now you need to define a plane on this side, but wider. Similarly, we cut in a circle, then cut into a lattice, and chop the stone with a chisel.
Next you have to choose the sink bowl. At first this is done roughly, using the same grinder. We cut the lattice again and chop the stone. The cut in the middle is deepest, and shallow towards the edges of the stone to round out the bowl.
Using this method, you need to set the size of the bowl, but not overdo it, so that the thickness of the stone at the bottom will allow you to smooth out the flaws later. Then you need to install a sanding disc and erase the deep notches. This equipment produces a lot of dust, so water is poured into the bowl to avoid this.
Now you need to level the bowl so that the water flows accurately into the center and does not stagnate. To do this, use a small grinder with a grinding wheel. When working with it, you cannot pour water, so there will be a lot of dust. The small disc allows you to select excess stone on the side walls. You should immediately try to level the sides so that the height of the bowl is the same on all sides.
Having set the shape of the bowl, you need to polish it using sanding attachments with a lower grit size. Then it is illuminated in the center under the siphon with a 42-48 mm crown. You need to drill with water. Please note that the hole for the siphon is made wider at first.
Finally, you need to polish the bowl to a gloss using polishing paste and a brush.
You can also apply varnish to the entire surface to highlight the beauty of the material.
