A common toilet malfunction is the button sticking. After flushing, it does not return to its original position, and water from the tank continuously flows into the sewer. Such a breakdown can easily be solved with your own hands without replacing components.

What you will need:

  • Screwdriver;
  • sharp knife.

The process of repairing a stuck toilet flush button

Before starting work, you must turn off the water supply to the toilet. Then unscrew and remove the button, followed by the tank cap.

Next, you need to remove the drain fittings on which the button is attached. To do this, you need to grab it with your hand and turn it half a turn counterclockwise.

After removing the mechanism, you need to remove the upper part in the shape of a boot, on which the button directly presses. To do this, you need to unfasten the lever located under it, picking it up with a screwdriver.

After removing the boot, you need to cut off the small thorn located at the top with a knife. It is he who clings and jams the mechanism.The spike serves as a limiter for the lower position when the button is pressed. In the assembled reinforcement, the rest of the mechanism does not allow it to fall through, so removing it will not harm.

The boot is then put back in place and the lever is snapped back into place.

After this, the mechanism is attached to the tank, the lid is closed and the button is screwed on. Now it will no longer sink when flushed.
